It's more that Self wants the offense to work THROUGH the bigs - not rely on them for scoring. When you get the bigs involved, it opens up three point shooting. We just haven't had the three point shooting to back it up.

You just think about it as solely bigs, because Elijah (5 star!) didn't ever become the scorer we thought he would. We had a down tick in guards panning out while Kentucky had a surge. It's improving now. Our backcourt is absolutely loaded.

FFS the last time we were in the NC game, CONNOR TEAHAN WAS STARTING FOR US. our guards have not been up to snuff lately - more accurately, the guard depth. We seriously run six deep with good guards now.

But let's be real here, That 2011 boat didn't float without Tyshawn Taylor. That team was extraordinarily limited offensively if the ball didn't got to TRob, and Taylor could take the ball at the end of a shotclock and get to the rack. A lot of times it ended in throwing the ball to Withey because he's 7 feet and 3 dudes were guarding TRob. But having a dude that nobody could stay in front of was paramount.

And they started Teahan. WTF? Couldn't they go to Lawrence Freestate and find someone better? Faster anyway?

I am amazed any KU fan would think Teahan started for our Final Four team. Come on bros.

Yea no, that's wrong.

I believe it was T-Rob, Withey, Releford, EJ and the Ferrari

He didn't but he started half the year.

Bambi 07-15-2015 12:29 AM

Guys stop. Conner Tehan didn't start any games at KU. Maybe one cause of an injury or something but come on. Wake up

Apparently he started twice. I think one was senior night. I seem to remember him starting some games. I was wrong. My fault. Either way he got WAAAY too many minutes at 21.0 minutes per game. Having that guy out there for over half the game is crazy.

He wasn't supposed to. It was supposed to be McLemore.

Technically it was supposed to be Releford. Because Self fully expected Selby to return and make Travis our 6th man with Ben our 7th. Neither Selby nor Ben was able to play and neither mattered: we went 31-7, won the League, and went to the Final Four anyway.

this will be a perfect regular season and National Championship year; we will watch this team go undefeated in the world games, undefeated in non-conference play, undefeated in conference play, win the big 12 tourney and win the national championship.

In reality I see 5 losses going into the playoffs:

Michigan St. in Chicago
UCLA in Maui
@ Iowa State
@ Oklahoma
@ Baylor

They will win two of those, and then lose 2 others that they shouldn't have. 5 losses seems about right.

Not started in the Final Four, but he started a couple games that year. Either way, he was a major rotation guy. A freaking walk on.

None of that changes the fact that Conner Teahan actually started on a Final Four team. It doesn't matter how many times. Evan Manning ain't starting a game this year. Period. Our backcourt depth is significantly better than it has been the last few years, and I think that is why the offense has felt stagnant at times recently. We just didn't have the guard depth.

We do now.
