At this stage in his career, it's not going to happen, but man if Alex Smith could put just a tiny bit more air under that throw...

He gives himself (and his WRs) such a slim margin for error on those throws because he's just doesn't have quite enough arm to really loft it up there to let them run under it.

Hill had Peters wrecked and yet Smith still had to throw it into a pretty tiny window because the sideline cut Hill off and Smith couldn't put quite enough ass into it to just let Hill run under it. So he had to throw it steeper and pretty much hit Hill in stride or miss him outright. You'd like to see him able to utilize that cushion more by making the worst case scenario a 40 yard catch/tackle rather than an incomplete pass.

We'll miss on a few deep throws this year for that very reason.

Hill is going to be a starter if he keeps this up.

More times than not he throws it too conservative there. Better chance for a for sure catch, but not a long td, by throwing more of a direct pass.
