We went quite a few years ago to see the Sox play the Cubs. The Cubs were winning most of the game and the Sox hit what I remember as a 3 run homer to take the lead. The game was delayed at that point about 15 minutes while the grounds crew cleaned up the assorted trash that the bleacher bums had tossed onto the field. ROFL

We went back in 2015 to see the Royals play there for a weekend series. We had great seats to the Saturday game and watched the Friday game in Wrigleyville. We won that game but the Saturday game was rained out and rescheduled in September. We weren't able to make it back, but I did sell the tickets for a profit.

****ing Vinnie Pasqauntino is showing some pretty impressive hitting skills and a great ****ing eye. On the season he has 49 walks and 54 strikeouts and since he's been in NW Arkansas he's really turned it up. .327 BA .408 OBP .570 SLG .978 OPS. He has 16 walks and 16 strikeouts in 107 ABs.

It's crazy to me how low his strikeout numbers are when he has a .570 SLG and 18 HRs. The kid isn't just out there swinging as hard as he can at every pitch. He is waiting for something he can hit hard, but isn't afraid to take a walk. He's like a Nicky Lopez, but has ball smashing power. I really hope he gets a shot with us, because I think he could be a really dominant hitter. Hell I'd like to see him up in Sept, but I don't think they'll be able to put him on the 40 man roster, because of rule 5 guys they need to get on there.

I see some Anthony Rizzo in the stance and general body size. Obviously don't expect Pasquatino to turn out to be that good.

It's hard for a bat only guy to make the bigs, but his season has been excellent.

That's a bummer. There goes the no-hitter. Hard to go back out there after a 40 minute delay. He was locked in today though. What really burns is the storm went south of Wrigley and it didn't even rain.

I don't know, man. The spot they could really splash some money and be significantly improved is CF, but the best option there is Starling Marte. He's 32 and you'd be taking a big risk on that contract turning into a stinker in a couple years.

FWIW, IMHO, No they will not! I believe the window of opportunity for the kids to move up to the BIGS will present itself. This along with the young pitching will allow a young team to mature and grow together.

If we go with any FA contracts next year will be middle RP.

I only ask because there are 40+ high quality free agents which may create a buyers market. If that works out, a team could add a high quality player in a cost effective manner now for a team set to contend in the near future rather than immediate future.

My smart tv doesn't have that app...I have to use a Roku or fire to do it.

A good 3B makes that play on the Altuve double. At least stops it from getting out of the infield.

Lynch is playing bend but don't break tonight so far. Couple times I thought the Astros were about to get him.

Not gonna happen.

Neither are on the 40 man roster and they’d have to DFA one or a couple players off the 40 to do it.

And the roster expansion in September this year is not the normal roster expansion. They only get 3 extra spots for the expanded roster. And those will likely go to pitchers with Matheny burning up all of our bullpen arms.

Or, you can put Salvy at first, give him somewhat of a break behind the plate and play Gallagher instead. We can showcase Gallagher as trade bait and bring up one of the young catchers next year.

The other major part of this is the CBA is about to run out. If they change the service time rules in favor of the players next year... there's a risk they could end up burning a year of service time for guys like Pratto that we couldn't get back. But that's all speculation really. Nobody really knows.

If a relief pitcher can't do one inning 2 or 3 times a week, what is the point of even having them on the roster?
Guys don't get injure their arms by pitching 2-3 innings a week...unless there is some other underlying matter. Their daily throwing routines are more strenuous than pitching 1 inning.

I'm pretty ambivalent about Matheny in general, but I don't see how you can call this "overuse." You can't have a bullpen full of guys who can only pitch 1 inning a week.
