"Well, since we expanded to 7 teams in the playoffs, the 1 seed has a little too much advantage with home field and a bye. Therefore we are going to start playing the title game on a neutral site, even if it's a 17-0 team vs a shit team like Tampa Bay or the 2009 Seattle Seahawks at 7-9."
|
Cinci was awarded the AFC North regardless even though they have a worse division record than Baltimore and had Cinci lost to Buffalo, Baltimore would be in position to win the division. But allowing Cinci to not have to play 17 games they awarded Cinci the division.
Still think Cinci is getting ****ed? |

I don't feel like they'd do it unless the playoffs format was once again changed though or expanded.... if you aren't even playing for HFA past the divisional round, the regular season becomes even more pointless. |

You know since they can’t logistically make a team work they’ll just make the Championship games be in London. It will draw more views being international and have tremendous ratings while not taking any scheduled regular season games (to start the season).
I can see it now… Chris Collinsworth-“who would’ve thunk we’d be here at Wembley stadium for the AFC and NFC Championships in 2025? The NFL sure is amazing.” |
So how do the season ticket holders feel about this?

You would pay to park, then pay at the gate just to be in line for a ride for a NFL vote to come down and demand you pay again because the rules changed. |

Put it in Kansas, because no teams are in Kansas... ;) (Anonymous### thinks there is but they need a new map) |

An abstention effectively operates as a 'no' vote without going on record as a no. And I suspect if he had cover as an effected team to abstain, he'd gladly do so. I'd say there's about a 60% chance he abstained, a 40% chance he voted yes and really no chance he voted no. It's just not how Clark operates. |

We just need to smoke the Raiders and let the rest play itself out. |

So I would answer yes. Also they were in line for the 1 or 2 seed and now I don't think that can happen. Also it is completely dumb for them to have to do a coin flip when they are the divisional winner. |

Prior to 'all the changes', had the Ravens won on Sunday they'd have still ben seeded behind the Bengals by a half game due to having the same number of wins as Cincy and 1 more loss. So the Bengals would've still held the 3 seed with the Bills the 2 and the Chiefs the 1. The Chiefs still wouldn't have had to face the Bengals or Bills until the AFCCG. How could the Ravens have put themselves ahead of Cincy unless Cincy had LOST to Buffalo? And had Cincy lost to Buffalo, KC would've ended up in the 2 slot and likely STILL had the Ravens instead of the Bills in the Divisional round. Y'all making stuff up to feel better about this now? |

This “all” the changes”. And not just “the rule change”. Edit: but then if the Bengals lost to the Bills then KC is #2 and …. nevermind. The tweet is wrong. Apologies for the error. |
So give me your best, "the NFL is rigged and this is how they're going to handle this" thought

I'm sure Clark handled this with much grace, but if it were me. I would have said something like, why does my team have to play more games than Cincinnati and Buffalo? An unbalanced schedule (for whatever reason) is inherently not fair. So with that in mind we don't want to play our game vs the Raiders, who are out of the playoff race anyway, and if Buffalo wins, then great they can be the one seed and we will play the AFC championship game at a neutral field.
Additionally. You could have just not had the AFC teams play week 18 games and have the Bills and Bengals play it on Saturday. The fact that both of those teams don't have to play the most difficult game on their schedule is unfair. And I know, shut up and take it, which is what we are doing, because we get the bye and have to win a game to get to our 5th AFC Championship game in a row. I guess we will manage. |

It's pretty sad how much the NFL doesn't even care about it's own rule book.
|
Wait, why are we rooting for the Patriots? Much rather they lose and the Dolphins win so it'll be Dolphins v Bills with that depleted secondary getting firebombed

The NFL potentially removed a city's ability to host an AFCCG in front of their home crowd. Even if you remove the local financial loss, the home fan experience just got completely shit on. |

The world will be a better place if Buffalo chokes in the Wild Card round and their shitfest city gets buried under 50 feet of snow so we don’t have to hear from their bitch fans again until next season.

It wouldn't have mattered what Clark did, although it seems that he didn't push against it too hard. Goodell clearly had the 24 votes needed prior to putting out the memo he did yesterday and would have let him know that.
|
Can someone explain why NFC teams were allowed to vote on this rule change?
