Carl needs to stop playing with fire.

siberian khatru 02-09-2014 09:00 PM

Excellent episode

journeyscarab 02-09-2014 09:16 PM

Yep, good episode. It was good see Carl struggle between trying to be an adult and still being a vulnerable kid.

Really enjoyed the Michonne backstory. I love her character.

I saw it as her seeing herself as dead already in that moment. Walking with the dead, all by herself. No purpose. Just a walker.

Exactly my thoughts. I saw it as she had lost everything again and basically had given up caring about anyone. So, she resumed her previous life of walking with the dead....being alone, not caring....even passing up the opportunity to find Rick/Carl when she originally came across their footprints.

But, as she saw what she would become - basically a living walker - she decided that she finally had something to fight for....a family in a way....which is when the whole killing of all the walkers took place.

KC_Lee 02-10-2014 08:49 AM

Loved the episode. Really enjoyed the dream sequence instead of a straight flashback for Michone. The ending was really good.

Hope this is how they keep shooting this season; only focusing on 2 sets of the group instead to trying to cram everyone in a single episode.

One question that sticks with me; why is Michone the only character that uses the Walkers as cammo? You would think that she would have shared that info with the group at some point. Heck even Glenn & Rick used Walker guts in season one to provide cover.

OmahaChief 02-10-2014 09:18 AM

Great Episdoe. Love they got back to survival mode with everyone being on the road. Enjoyed every bit of that episode last night.

She is the only one that has big enough balls to do it.

Plus if everyone else did it too, a lot of the drama would go out the window. It is a really good point. It's kinda dumb that they wouldn't do it.

notorious 02-10-2014 09:44 AM

The face expression that Michonne has when she is burying her pain is amazing.

We have seen it plenty of times before, and now we finally have the basis for it.

I take it they're finally gonna let Beth sink or swim as a character. They're pairing her with most peoples favorite character (Daryl) for at least an episode or two if not longer. This is her chance.

Before you meet him in the comics.

"It depicts the journey of Brian Blake in the early days of the undead apocalypse to his eventual rise as 'The Governor' of Woodbury."

I'm guessing as zombies rot, they get dumber.
We know they weaken and get slower as they decay so I guess it stands to reason that their brains decay as well.

If you go back to season one, Morgan's zombie Wife walks down the street, up the stairs and tries the doorknob.
In yesterday's ep, Carl closes shoe zombie up in a bedroom without a lock. Said sombie was closed up in a bedroom forever previous to Carl's entry as well.
Details...

From reading the first set of comics - which coincidentally takes you up to the fall finale this year - the show is quite a bit different from the comics. There are obvious similarities & the plot is the same, but there are things that are different in the comics that threw me off since I watched the show first.

I'm hoping to get out ahead of the show and get the next set of comics read quickly.

Yup, there are characters at play now that are gone in the comics and visa versa.
This last episode was very close to the comics though.

I actually went back to the comics and re-read 49 and 50 after the episode last night and I swear they used the comic panels to storyboard most of the episode.

And how have they not come up with some kind of spring-action bolt gun, so they don't have to expend so much energy - ESPECIALLY when they were on fence detail.

seaofred 02-10-2014 02:29 PM

Ive wondered the same but I guess you can't really expect everyone to make the best decisions possible; there wouldn't be much or a show left.

I was thinking a great idea would be to chop off the limbs and mouths if several zombies like Michonne does and tether them around your base, whatever that may be. It would probably do well to keep other zombies from pounding on your fortifications but would almost certainly attract the living. It would be like a beacon probably getting you killed.

They should have a few on hand for when they make supply runs at the very least though.

I was thinking that when the little shit was trying to lead the zombies away from the door. It would have been a lot easier, safer, and much quieter to sneak up behind them and plant some type of melee weapon in their skulls.

The Franchise 02-10-2014 05:38 PM

I like the show....but what bugs me is that the zombies are just an afterthought or a filler. Need to move between scenes? Stab a zombie in the head! Alright....back to some horribly constructed confrontation.

I agree, the more separated they become the more chances there are for new storylines rather than having them all grouped up and trying to create stories and tension from that.

I liked this episode, but it was heavy on the Dumb Decisions. Father and son were both bitching at each other enough to endanger themselves needlessly, all the tip. Despite him supposedly growing up and being more capable and responsible, Carl charged off into more stupidly dangerous situations multiple times this episode. It was irritating.

Carl is still a kid though too....he was def wreckless in this episode and cocky. I'm sure he'll handle it different going forward. Rick is just straight ****ed up, hopefully a wake up call.

Remember, Carl is Lori's son.

Lori managed to hit a zombie on an abandoned highway and roll a car.
