Andrew Wiggins is to NBA what Andrew Luck was to the NFL.

Joel Embiid is going to be a top 3 pick when all is said and done, though.

High school kids look so slow compared to college kids, who in turn look slow compared to nba players. It's no wonder so many one and dones struggle in the nba early on. Huge leap in just the pace, not to mention the skill.

Ceej 03-07-2013 07:26 AM

How dumb is Jerry Palm?

In his bracketology he has KU the #2 seed in the south behind..... Louisville.

WTF?

It might, but I don't think so. In college, the biggest asset a program can have are its "program players". Whether they are starters or not, these players help freshman get acclimated to college life quicker. The better leaders these program players are, the easier it is for freshman to acclimate to college life, and in turn, have fewer pressing concerns that affect their play on the court.

UK was woefully short on that for this year's class. I could be wrong, but I never saw Wiltjer as that kind of leader. The best thing that happened this year for the Jayhawks as it relates to next year's team is that Tharpe found his game and his confidence. He's a dynamic type of person that will set the tone for the program next year, even if he doesn't start. Having three coach's sons on the practice squawd will help a bunch as well.

Even talented freshman have a lot to adapt to when moving away from home for the first time, no matter how big and powerful they might look. Obviously, a program needs elite talent to compete at the highest level, but, the more overlooked aspect for the long term health of a program, are the upper classman leaders who show the new kids the ropes and can relate what the expectations are.

sedated 03-07-2013 01:02 PM

Unless Adams steps up and shows he’s worthy of playing time, I don’t see KU having much choice next year other than playing 2 freshman guards. Other than Tharpe, there isn’t much there. White is more of a wing and I doubt Self wants 1 PG and 2 wings on the floor very much.

Kind of weird to see a Self team with zero seniors and only 1 junior, but that’s what we got.

Yep. As much AS I've always liked Wesley, I don't see him pushing through ahead of Traylor or any of the other bigs.

Now that is pretty tough to top. Especially since Wilt is dead.

Calipari taking pot shot at Self after last nights loss to Georgia?

The other team, the guy (coach) kills them: 'They got no heart. They got none of this. The worst team in history.' And all the sudden the team comes out and plays well. I probably should do that. But it's not in me. It's not in my bones to go that way. I'm not going to blame a kid. At the end of the day, it's my job to get them to play right. And they're not playing right."

Maybe. Cal already threw his team under the bus when he came out and said Goodwin and Poythress were uncoachable. They are in different situations though. Self has a team with 4 seniors starting. He's knows they will respond to what he's saying. Cal has a team full of freshman prima donnas and a whole slew of freshman prima donnas coming next year. He can't get on them to much or it hurts his reputation of being able to handle the one and done teams

Baylor is a vastly superior team to TCU. The loss isn't comparable at all to that.

Whether people are willing to admit it right now or not, this was another very good season by KU. A 9th straight B12 title and another possible #1 seed on tap for the real tournament. There's little to be upset about.

He tried when the others didn't and played well overall. It might not be so bad if we miss out on Randle if he can keep developing like that next season.

13 for UCLA, and KU is now tied with UK (a long time ago) with 9.
