When I drive down that way on US 71, there is a huge landfill just to the West of US 71 between Lamar and Carthage. The current landfill hill is at least 100 to 150 ft high. I would think that the amount of debris is going to be biblical, but there should be plenty of open space out there somewhere to either build a new landfill, or add to existing ones. I would also think there's going to be a lot of concern about toxic items scooped up in the clearing work, although companies are much better and much smarter about doing that now.

Yeah they are coming to Joplin to demonstrate against Obama coming there on Sunday.

For volunteers working in Joplin, the Scottish Rite Temple has free hot meals. Corner of Byers and 5th street. I'll be heading over on Sunday to man one of the grills.

Hopefully the local media ignores them and the cops keep them away from the damage zone. No publicity for these fools is the best medicine.
