I know that you are much more plugged in than I am, as are guys with PM subscriptions. Ricker strikes me as a panic hire because of the unusual timing of Walker's retirement. Walker always seemed to get a lot out of marginally talented kids. Boehm was better as a Sophomore than he has been the last two years, and the OL as a whole looks slow and weak.

I have no idea why Walker retired, but it always struck me as odd.

I think they saw Ricker as an up-and-comer. However, everything he has tried to "fix" has been a disaster.

I think we are heading for a real kick in the butt next week at Kentucky.

Bowser 09-19-2015 03:25 PM

They need to just throw Lock in there as starter and live through his growing pains. Pinkel won't do it, but at this point it's the right move. Mauk has played like hot garbage through the three warmup games. He's going to get his shit eaten up against the SEC.

KChiefs1 09-19-2015 04:33 PM

SEC won't be fun this year.

No play makers on offense.

GloryDayz 09-19-2015 07:33 PM

We won. Woot... I did watch, but was doing carpet scrubbing, so I wasn't all up in here...

Many examples of "lesser" teams playing well against the Power 5. Ohio State won by 7 today.

That said, Mizzou needs an offense like yesterday.

BryanBusby 09-19-2015 08:26 PM

Lock is certainly the better passer, I just don't think these receivers right now would do him any favors.

This offense is a shitbarn and would prefer they don't ruin him. For everyone that bitches about thr Chiefs line, they ahould watch MU play.

Pass protection was outstanding today. No sacks, and Mauk had all day to stand in the pocket and not throw the ball.

BryanBusby 09-19-2015 09:32 PM

I wouldn't call it outstanding.

Mauk ran a lot and UConn also rushed only 3 a significant amount of time.

Next week's gonna be a battle of 2 good defenses and 2 shitty excuses for offenses.

Yeah....but we played like crap and should have lost in reality. Mauk looked lost, playing with Zero confidence in himself, much less having any confidence in his receivers. Abbington looked lost.....Witter can't seem to pick the right hole to run thru and our best offensive play of the day was a lumbering #3 RB going 50+ yards.

I agree with what the announcers were talking about all day.....our DB's seemed to be playing 10 or more yards off the receivers. If we do that in conference play teams will just drive down the field doing nothing but killing us with short passes.

TrebMaxx 09-19-2015 09:49 PM

I think the lack of any running game is a big factor for the offenses shitty play. Hopefully once Hansbrough gets healthy things might improve.
