Does anyone know how incentives work w/ regard to the cap? Example: if a player has an incentive that he earns x amount for playing 16 games, does that count against the cap?

Incentives are basically figured into the players cap hit for that year as if they will achieve them. There is also a certain allowance that teams can go over the cap a bit if it's due to bonuses and other stuff beyond the base sary.

That's a big reason teams are allowed to roll over cap dollars from one year to the next. If your players don't achieve their incentives, that's basically unused cap space and the league is allowing you to sound that kind of money the following year.
