A perennial all pro for that would be a massive letdown.

An amazing player yes but it sounds like he was a living hell to manage within the locker room, as well as on the field at times. His value plummets due to that.

If it was purely about talent, he’d be a Chiefs for the next 8+ years.

Yep. First they leak about the trade. They see a general negative reaction, then start in with the "Peterrs demanded a trade months ago", followed up with a dose of "I hear absolutely nobody was willing to even give a 5th rounder for him."

They don't have a 2nd.

I'm not sifting through the entire thread to see if this has been asked, but if the browns were interested I'm curious why the Chiefs would make a deal with the rams who are much lower in the draft order.

They better not being delaying the 1st rounder until next year.

If the compensation includes a "throw in" pick like a fifth rounder, we could use that to draft a punter. We're gonna need one once they cut Colquitt.

Because some people think this compensation is going to be no better than what a comp pick would have been.

Apparently Browns interest was "lukewarm".

Colquitt is a ****ing FA.

I'm surprised and not surprised by this. He had more than one meltdown on the field last year, maybe Andy had enough. I can't believe they'd do it over the national anthem stuff. Certainly doesn't help the defense in the short term. I'm always of the idea that pass rushers are more important than CBs, but still, Peters is one of the best. You are not going to draft or sign a guy with better ball skills. He is going to light it up on that Rams defense.

The salary cap is rising at least $10 million per year. Kroenke is the wealthiest owner in the NFL and won't care about huge signing bonuses spread out over many years.

He'll also be opening the NFL's crown jewel in 2020, which will host the NFL Network, have housing, shopping, etc. in addition to rent from the Chargers.

If the Rams want to extend Peters, they can.
