Color me surprised.

I trust the Chiefs' front office, though.

If there was a trade to be made with Brown, they would make it. Tells me that isn't workable, either.

“If you ask me now I think there’s a 25% chance Orlando plays for the Chiefs”

Yeah he gone!

Obviously. That's more of break glass in case of emergency than something we'd do willingly.

Psssst that's the joke.

I guess you bring Wylie back at RT then

O.city 03-06-2023 02:25 PM

Well good luck OBJ.

Moving on.....

If there's one thing we know for certain, Veach will be aggressive to solve the issue. I've got all the faith in the world that he's got a plan.

I would not be the least bit shocked if all of this ends with them signing him long term.

If that's the case, they could've just wanted the money to be freed up to re-sign some guys and make a somewhat big signing in free agency.

Chiefs didn't want that Tag money on all offseason. They wanna get something done with others.

Jawaan Taylor is our LT next year...

Makes all the sense in the world.

I'd pay him $17-18 million/season on a deal that is essentially a 3 year deal with 'options' to take it out to 5 on us (He's only 25 right now).

So how do we do this....

5 years, $90 million. Signing bonus of $25 million. Base salaries of $2/$8 and $13 million in years 1-3 (giving him $48 million in the first 3 seasons). Salaries of $18 and $24 million in years 4 and 5.

So:

$25 million bonus
$2, 8, 13, 18, 24 in salaries in years 1-5.

If he makes the transition to LT, that year 4 number is probably still wholly reasonable by then and if he makes it well, year 5 is at least tolerable enough to leverage into a restructure or play on it outright.

If he's stuck at RT you have cap hits for your RT of $7 million, $13 million and $18 million over 3 seasons before you probably cut him loose with a June 1 designation and split that $10 million in dead money over a couple years.

I could live with that. There's a reasonable ceiling and a high floor. Some value baked in if everything goes really well, a makeable escape hatch if it doesn't.

He may very well get that contract, its pretty thin out there.

If Veach doesnt think he's worth it, Im ok with his decision. He will figure something out. Or OBJ comes down on his demands and signs.

Veach has to think about the whole team, OBJ is thinking about ONE player.

Agreed. Bart Varch has been pretty solid as a GM and Brown just feels like a run of the mill player.

Brett Veach is so awesome

Urc Burry 03-06-2023 02:29 PM

He’s gone.

He’d be dumb if I not at least see what’sout there now. And we won’t be able to come close. Like us running up the numbers for Trent Williams. Bears will probably give him 25

I think that has to be the plan A. Or a stopgap like Kelvin Beachum. With Andre Dillard lurking out there as a real possibility.
