It's only there in late July through mid/late August...

That seems like the logical conclusion. Take a little more time figuring a better plan for each franchise that has a positive effects for the fans and the team, then put the proposal back on the ballot in another year or two. From everything I’ve read and heard, it just sounds like all these plans were done last minute just like most of my book reports in high school.

You have a year at the most, if that, to get things done by 2031. This lost so badly they may move on to other venues and voters soon.

FYP

I haven’t kept up with the whole situation, but if they were to come up with an agreement and the renovations, new stadium, etc were to go past 2031, couldn’t they just extend the lease another couple of years until construction was completed?

Outside of KC/STL, there isn't a nickel's worth of difference between Kansas and Missouri. Why argue about which turd smells the best?

Either way the point I was making is I don't even know where they'd build a stadium in Independence.

Why even talk about independence?

There is a greater chance both teams move to Joplin than either move to Independence.

That's nonsense. There's plenty of ways to make it work in that time frame. There's zero reason for a panic driven vote on a shitty proposal.

I no longer live in the area…how likely is it that Johnson County already has a pretty attractive deal in the works? I’d be shocked if they aren’t burning the midnight oil to hammer one out quickly…but, again, I’m not up=to-date on local political winds. :spock:

Well, the opposite could be said of those that always are for more gov't and taxes.

Personally, I am generally against more gov't and more taxes. That being said, sports teams kind of have us over a barrel. They can just get a better offer from somewhere else and move. 3/8 of a cent doesn't seem like much to me to guarantee our 2 professional sports teams remain in KC. Also, those sports teams actually provide tangible benefits in added revenue to the city as well as entertainment for the residents.

But I agree that the plan sounds like it was crap. I'm not sure I would have voted for it, either.

False, but I'll play along. What makes Missouri and Kansas so different?

Not to get too political but yes, cutting taxes and smaller government is what conservatives generally stand for. That being said, many Republican politicians are not really conservative at all. They are supposed to be and they like to campaign like they are but very few are truly conservative.

Could anyone that says there is some imminent move to Kansas explain why nobody is saying anything about Johnson County being the place when they have a lot more people and a much higher median income?

If having the Chiefs or Royals play at a new stadium that is partly paid for with public funds is so great, then why isn't Johnson County mentioned.

Rank County Population
1 Johnson County 610,742
2 Sedgwick County 522,700
3 Shawnee County 178,625
4 Wyandotte County 167,989
5 Douglas County 119,094

Why not Overland Park or Olathe?

1 Wichita 395,951
2 Overland Park 196,676
3 Kansas City 155,438
4 Olathe 142,114
