Only idiots look at Alex Smith's day yesterday and dismiss it as all screen passes, as if every other QB's stat sheet is filled with nothing but 40 yard bombs into the back of the end zone.
Sorry to burst the bubble, but even the forehead has his stats inflated by bubble screens and WR pick plays that are caught three yards from the LOS and go the distance. Yesterday was not Alex Smith's day, however. It was Jamaal's. Sure, Alex made some good plays and I'm happy that he is athletic enough to avoid the pressure and still get the ball out to Jamaal where he isn't turned around or grabbing it at his ankles, but is ready to immediately start running. Because, in case you forgot, our QBs haven't always done that. |
