I don't think we would get a 1 for Jones from anyone next year. Maybe a first round swap and a 3rd.

WHY DOES NOBODY THINK CHRIS JONES HAS VALUE THIS YEAR?

Such a clown attempt.

He cites something that has happened ONE time in recent memory. For an absolute mutant player who is far, far above Jones in terms of performance and production.

Yeah. That's not, for instance, how Mahomes ' contract EXTENSION worked at all. What is his problem?

Chris Jones has negative value to a team who is attempting to tank.

Maybe I should get ahold of twisted so he can invest and diversify all this Chris Jones cash I have laying around

He has value, but it won’t be some massive haul.

He’s expensive and old enough to not be a part of a long-term build.

That means many of the teams with cap space aren’t close enough to contending to give up the picks for a short term answer.

The teams that are contending likely have their own expensive stars, so the cheap draft picks are even more valuable to them.

It would take a unique situation for Jones. A team with draft picks to spare, cap space (or the ability to create it, and a need at the position, all while already be contenders (or close to it).

Hardly anyone has cap space and those that do aren't very good and aren't going to trade a top 10 pick for an aging Jones wanting nearly $30m per.

I love how Florio just leaps to “his existing contract shouldn’t count” when there is zero evidence that the Chiefs have or will give him an alternative. But he sure is twisting himself in knots to frame the issue in the light that Jones wants to see it in.

I’m over it at this point. We just need to become a scoring machine until the guy is back. And I hope Veach continues to frame it in his own terms:

1. Play this year on your existing deal
2. Sign the extension we offered
3. Plan to make $25M the next two half-seasons when we tag you and you sit out to week 8

I actually think there’d be plenty of market if we went this route. A team like Chicago for example since poles knows jones well. Or hell, bieniemy could talk the commanders into it since they’re all gunning to keep their jobs. Most nfc teams gotta feel like an average team is enough to make the playoffs.

Somebody following the Rams school of 'all in'.
