yeah that was kind of over the top. but it's not an impossible thought. Croyle couldn't get us one in 10 tries, right? Who's to say he will get healthy and win a game all of a sudden?

he will probably not be back until around tennessee after the bye. thigpen gets @atlanta, denver, and @carolina. he's got as good of a shot as Glass Bro

We've seen enough to know that he's the most effective QB on this team at being productive with this offense.

You're hinging an NFL gameplan against the best athletes in the Football Universe on his ability to run?

The key to having success, even when considering Thigpen, is to protect your QB. He will not beat this Atlanta defense with his legs.

Can you ****ing READ?

NO ONE is saying we're trying to beat the Falcons by running the QB.

Thigpen simply has the ABILTY and POTENTIAL to get away and POSSIBLY make a play when protection breaks down, which it will.

Damon Huard CANNOT, and DOES NOT have that ABILITY or POTENTIAL.

Someone else deal with this guy, I'm not going to bother arguing with someone that doesnt bother to read posts where this has already been explained.

I'd like to think so.

You said you were in favor of starting Thigpen over Huard because of his mobility. We're square there Chief. Don't recant. I got what you're saying.

That's untrue.
I'd like to take you back to the Oakland game last season where he hit Bowe on a long pass play after facing an immense pass rush.

That's my problem with you OTW.
You tend to be dishonest in your assessment of Huard's abilities.

Translation: I've painted myself into a corner with virtually no knowledge of how the NFL game is played. Someone please provide a better argument for me to latch onto 10 posts from now when I re-emerge and re-explore my desire to have this discussion.

I think your mistake is trying to equate 'mobility' with 'running the quarterback'. Mobility just means we want someone who can bootleg and maybe have a shot to escape from Abraham instead of curling up into an infant-sized ball every time a d-lineman breathes on him.

Either way, it's a moot disucssion. Herm's made his choice.

I've never said a word about scripted plays that are designed for the QB to run. I know the difference. I'm referring to the fallacy that Thigpen's ability to scramble is a successful idea to build this week's gameplan on. Thigpen will not beat the Atlanta defense with his legs.

Bingo....I've never ever said Huard was a decent QB, but the offense has clearly played better when he's in there taking snaps. He's obviously not the long term answer, but if other young players are going to develope as much as they possibly can, then Huard is the smartest choice at QB.

The offense has done jack shit with Thigpen. The guy can't hit water if he fell out of a boat. How are Franklin, Bowe, Cottam, and Charles all gonna develope if we play Thigpen?

I can understand the overall hatred of Huard. When all is said and done he's been a career journeyman who has never asserted himself as a starter. I understand that he may simply be the best of a bunch of bad options. That's why I'm championing the exploration of outside options. Brady Quinn, a draftee, or a Free Agent QB come April.

What I can't understand is how Chiefs fans have been duped into believing in Herman Edwards philosophy. This man told us 1 week ago that he could not look his players in the eye and tell them that Tyler Thigpen gave them the best chance at winning a football game. 1 week later, he's been named our starting QB.

Couple that with the fact that Sunday after the game I heard the voice of a man who is utterly lost on how to navigate this franchise out of the organization-sized hole they're in and I'm wondering why he still works here.

FAX 09-18-2008 03:26 PM

You know, I understand the concern, but if we're counting on a bunch of scrambling to get us this win, we're screwed no matter who we put in the game. I don't think we can scramble our way to a win in Atlanta or anywhere else, for that matter.

I'm pretty amazed at how completely messed up we are at this point. Herm better figure out a way for the Chiefs to run the football. That's all there is to it. Pure and simple. If we can't run, we can't compete - not in this game or any other. I hope he can come up with a way to get that done because, so far, buttball isn't working.

I heard the same thing, Mr. Micjones. More and more, Herm's sounding like a man lost. If you didn't know better, you might think that he's bitten off a little more than he can chew with this whole "rebuild" deal and he's just beginning to realize it.

You may think so. I don't.

Since the offense has scored 1 TD with Huard and 1 TD with Thigpen, I'm not sure how the offense has "clearly played better when [Huard's] in there taking snaps". And he's thrown two picks. Although you'd think he should perform a lot better, since Thigpen's had virtually no work with the starting offense and was essentially thrown in there to sink or swim. Be a little easier to compare the two come Sunday, now that Thigpen's getting all the snaps in practice this week.
