I didn't say either of them had experience with the 3-4 as a COORDINATOR. Both of them, especially Gibbs, have 3-4 experience as position coaches or graduate assitants for college teams.
The big knock on Gibbs with the fans in New Orleans was that his background was almost exclusively 3-4 prior to joining the team. And he was a key member of the 2005 Cowboys coaching staff transitioning them from 4-3 to 3-4.

He ran a 4-3 at LSU in 01.
When Gibbs got to Dallas in 02 they ran a 4-3. They didn't start making the transition until the 05 draft when they took Marcus Spears. Gibbs took over in New Orleans in 06.
Maybe it's best you know what you are talking about before you post this stuff.

I haven't said a word about gap assignments. I'm talking about 30 fronts vs. 40 fronts. The two ARE NOT inclusive. It's too bad the rest of us can't be up to your level of football acumen.

When I'm talking about going to a 3-4, I'm talking about two gap 30 front defense. That is the 3-4 the Steelers run. We are NOT going to run that. We will run a hybrid 3-4 with a stand up end, no different than what the Cards ran last year. It IS NOT a true 3-4.
