This is silly...
Cassel's your starter...with a bullet. |

I'm not saying anyone is pushing Cassel. I'm just saying that Croyle doesn't suck. Thought I'd make myself clear on that.

6 Td's 8 picks and 0 wins as a starter. I guess he'd be an ok backup but these people saying he should be the starter shhhh.

I wish the guy the best, and I'd be thrilled to see him succeed as a starter, but the fact is... right now... you can't depend on him. Sucks, because the kid does seem to have talent. |

I think Orton will have a big year, but if Simms beats him out and plays at a high level during the regular season I will be happy with it. |
What I don't understand is why Croyle hasn't gotten bigger knowing his durability weakness.
Heck, I'm a really small guy. I weighed 121lbs when I graduated high school. Two years later, I weighed 171 because I worked very hard in the gym. Hell, I could gain more muscle mass if I were a professional athlete. And, I'm not doing anything exotic with supplements. I understand he's in an NFL conditioning program and perhaps he's just a rather thin guy who's already maxed out his body, but if I were him, I'd be juiced to the gills with HgH. Its on the banned substance list, but they don't test for it. Of course, I wouldn't use mega doses because that can be very bad if you have unknown tumors: in that case, HgH stimulates tumor growth. |
I think Croyle has one of the five best arms in the NFL. He has the kind of arm that is truly impressive in person. He has a better arm that the beloved Sanchez. He has a better arm than Alex Smith. He has a better arm than Leinart. He has an arm comparable to Cutler, or even Elway or Favre in their prime. Not quite as good, but would definitely give those guys a run for their money.
I think Croyle has a ton of leadership. I think Croyle has a ton of mobility. About the only things that Croyle doesn't have are experience and durability. Here lies the problem.... he won't get much experience if he can't last more than a half of a football game.... Some of it is just bad luck.... and bad offensive lines. In reality, he is too tough for his own good. He will stand in the pocket in the face of a strong rush to deliver the ball. He will run for yardage and take the hits. The guy has come back from so many injuries. He is like a boxer who just keeps getting up.... when so many of us... (Me included),by now would have just hung em' up. I admire his resolve. I think it is unfortunate that the most talented QB in Chiefs camp right now is also the one that can't be counted on. |
For the record, Cassel struggled in last year's camp too.
I would be lying if I said it didn't concern me.... but I am not willing to panic just yet. If Cassel is a bust, I will be more dissapointed in Pioli than anything else. Pioli was with this guy for a few years. I know that you can never 'know' how a guy will respond to a new situation, new contract, and being 'the' guy.... but the main reason I supported the move for Cassel was because Pioli and Johs McDaniels both really wanted the kid. That spoke volumes to me. I will be dissapointed in Pioli if this kid doesn't work out. |
