I lived in Florida until I was 9, so I started liking the Dolphins then. There were no NHL, MLB teams there then to care about.
I moved to Upstate NY for the next 15 years or so and started following the Sabres and Syracuse when I was there. My family are all originally from NYC area and like the Yankees, but I never liked them and I sort of randomly picked the Red Sox because I liked the name and liked the green monster.
And I never followed a particular NBA team until I lived in Houston.

Occasionally I will follow a team for some reason. I liked the Colorado Crush and the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena league. I like the Sharks and the Oilers in the NHL. My NFC team is the Packers. I have a pro team in India, the Black Tigers, even though they may never actually play. Numbers 1 and 2 come first though, in that order.
