There's something just embarrasing about using Hotmail or AOL to me. I stumbled across this snip-it from Paul Rudd in an interview when asked about why it seems so many celebs (not that I care but that was the question posed) use AOL?

“I like AOL because it’s so embarrassing,” Rudd explains. “People look at you as if you’re a fossil. Which you are. But I enjoy that embarrassment. I like being on the outside. Having an AOL address is like wearing Ocean Pacific shorts. It’s so uncool that it’s cool.”

It'd be like still using Netscape as your browser if it still existed.

AOL is much, much different than Hotmail.

AOL <> Hotmail

11/12/04 is the first email I received on the GMAIL account I use...it was for a cashout on Party Poker. Who's got an earlier GMAIL email?

Why do you have to add "@gmail.com or @yahoo.com when you log into your email account. I'M LOGGING INTO GMAIL, WHY WOULD I PUT ANYTHING ELSE?

Wow. I fail

Rep to you for showing Durt the light.

Hand written letter composed with a crows feather dipped in ink, sent by carrier pigeon because I hate big e-mail.

Damn. Beat me by four days.

I actually didn't start using mine full-time until much later though - I just reserved the address. I think I finally made the switch from Yahoo around 2007.

Someone (who shares my name) gave it out as their own address. My e-mail address is [email protected] - his (i'm assuming) is [email protected]

I get some strange emails every now and then.

Actually, that shouldn't be the case - Gmail ignores dots in account names, so you could use either of those interchangeably.

Related protip - you can add a plus to the end of your account address and it'll ignore anything after that (before the @). For example, you can do things like [email protected] as your registration for suspect sites and filter those into a special folder to keep them separate.
