The Budweiser Clydesdale commercial won USA Today's Ad Meter Contest.
Tide's Joe Montana stain came in close second, Dodge Ram farmer commercial came in third |
I enjoyed a lot more of the commercials this year than the last few years. Having said that my least favorite one was the lame Gangum style nut commercial. My favorite was the old people Taco Bell commercial. After the game was over I liked the pudding commercial haha "Take that Baltimore!"

The Ram commerical was my favorite of the night. I am not a farmer but my Grandfather was and I gew up helping on the farm with a lot of the chores that were mentioned in the commerical. I know am now in corporate America and miss my days helping my Grandpa so this really hit home with me. The voice of Paul Harvey instantly took me back to my days with my Grandpa as we would always listed to his Rest of the story segment. This commerical was very powerful.

Maybe I'm off base with the rest of the market here, but I'm not buying a dodge on account of that commercial.
That being said, I absolutely appreciate the goodwill from Dodge. It seems like production agriculture is constantly being bashed. Between the "oh noes I need organic", atrazine in the Chesapeake Bay, PITA suggesting that feedlots mistreat animals (seriously LOL), GMO killing everybody, empty food, and whatever the next latest greatest way to bash on agriculture, it seems like we're always taking it on the chin. And on that note, I definitely appreciate some goodwill from Dodge. That is very important to me. And I don't think the actual producers IMO aren't the target market. I think they're trying to sell pickups to people who want to be associated with that type of lifestyle. There are a lot more people that want to think they are associated with Ag production than actually are in the industry. I think they're trying to sell to the people that think they will be closer to the described if they buy dodge. Like I said, I may be off base but that's how I see it. |
I don't know if it was shown nationally, but imo, the best new ad during the Superbowl was the Jack In The Box "Hot Mess" commercial. Still cracks me up when I watch it.

The music used in that Jeep commercial was the same music used in the HBO mini series "The Pacific" about the WWII Marine Corps campaign from Guadalcanal to Okinawa. Very effective music score for patriotic subject matter.
