Don't forget how excellent Bruce Chen was for several starts. He was giving ACE-level production out of the 5 spot for about a month.

I'm not convinced Paulino ever starts a game for the Royals again.

So what happens with Hochevar next year?

What should happen?

The Royals should do everything in their power to trade him during this offseason. They can't afford to pay a 6th/7th inning guy who can't be used in high leverage situations $5 million plus.

I'm not either...and he was our best pitcher from 2011-2012...also Will Smith needs to be in the mix.

Hochevar has been in plenty of high leverage situations this year, and he's more than acquitted himself.

So use that leverage to trade him (at his high point) to a team who might think he has starting pitching potential again because we all know he doesn't.

Some team will see this season and think he's figured it out and is ready to be a starter again.

Shit...we're only up 3-0. It feels like 7-0. Suddenly, I'm a little worried that we've let them hang around too long. Actually, I'm not worried...but I feel like I should be.

All well and good (I still wouldn't use him in anything but a clean inning, though). But that's still a ridiculous price tag for a guy who is used in the 6th or 7th inning.
