It's a trade-off I guess. They didn't get to enjoy their 20s while I was out seeing the world, but they will get to do it in their 40s and 50s with more money.

I had my first when I was 42 and my second just months before my 47th.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't need any dating advice from you, Clay. I literally don't want a girlfriend. At all. I enjoy having 3 or 4 girls in my phone I can call up and hang out with whenever I want, or meet a new girl, or just do nothing but sit around all day and play poker or Halo. Or watch TV. Or go jack off at a Wal Mart. Literally zero responsibility or obligations outside of my job.

Hah.

I often miss the single days. Such a care free lifestyle.

If you both want the same things in life, being married can be care-free, too.

I bet. It's just tough for me to see at the moment. I'm in a relationship with a girl that just sees things differently than me. We're always arguing about something petty... It takes its toll.

Hootie 12-01-2014 11:44 PM

would've been ****ing nice to enjoy my evening with some Showtime Anytime or HBO GO or perhaps a little Netflix

thanks a lot loser hackers

There is definitely something to be said for having had the opportunity to sew my wild oats before settling down.

I bet they do, Clay.

They also like guys who pick up the tab.

No doubt.

But I am very insecure now and will pay for the 2nd date in it's entirety.

Is the story behind this in the dating thread? I wanna read it.

Hootie 12-01-2014 11:58 PM

it was a quick back and forth in the dating thread where Clay went on some sort of speed date or something, really got along with the 'gorgeous' girl he was with, and then when the bill came they agreed to split it

...

you know

...

because that's what normal people do

Well, there's that, too. :D

For me, it was perfect. My wife and I married in 2001, bought a home and remodeled it, got LASIK eye surgery and traveled. Cabo, Cancun, Vancouver, New York, San Fran, Tahiti, Florida, Italy and more. Road trips and weekend getaways up and down the California coast.

We really did pretty much everything we wanted to do before starting a family and now, we have no regrets. We enjoy raising the kids and everything that comes along with it, easy or difficult.

Not to mention, I would have been a terrible father when I was in my early 20's and probably even my early 30's. I wasn't into to anything but me and fortunately, one never slipped through the goalie.

It starts here.

And as it points out, HOOTIE, I was all ready to pay the whole tab until she offered to pay the whole thing. Then we split.

Hootie 12-02-2014 12:03 AM

That doesn't make it any better. At all.

Hootie 12-02-2014 12:04 AM

It would be like you walking with a bunch of heavy grocery bags into your apartment complex and some gorgeous lady notices your struggles and says, "here, let me get those for you" and then you taking her up on that offer, or giving her half of them.

Man card revoked.

It's neither better or worse.

It's absolutely irrelevant since it has zero bearing on our interactions going forward.

It does indicate that she's a pretty cool gal, though.

Hootie 12-02-2014 12:06 AM

I'm sure there is a better analogy out there than that

tk13 12-02-2014 12:07 AM

We really need to get Hootie and GoChiefs to go on a double date together with two females of their choice. It would be the greatest story of all time. Or the worst.
