Yost better pull the hook on him quickly when he starts to mess up. Probably the second inning.

I think momentum from game to game is vastly overstated by fans, especially in a sport where you can see huge swings in scores from game to game almost solely based on pitching.... an early lead one way or the other, and the other day is forgotten.

If we make the ALCS, I would think you would go:

Game 1: Volquez
Game 2: Ventura
Game 3: Cueto
Game 4: Medlen
Game 5: Volquez
Game 6: Ventura
Game 7: Cueto

Honestly, Volquez is probably our best SP right now, with Ventura 2nd and Cueto 3rd.

And all 4 home games are Friday/Saturday nights. PBJ

I generally agree with this. Athletes have an incredible ability to forget and refocus.

Look at last year's World Series (regrettably).

Game 1, not close, LOSS
Game 2, not close, WIN
Game 3, close, WIN
Game 4, had lead, then not close, LOSS (and the game that cost us the series.)
Game 5, not close, LOSS
Game 6, not close, WIN
Game 7, close, LOSS

Back and forth, matchups

I feel like I'm going to have diarrhea.

What are you wearing so we can spot you?

We're not doing him some kind of a favor or saving face. After Ventura and Volquez, we don't have a better option than Cueto.

suzzer99 10-14-2015 01:42 PM

Vs. the Stros right now I'm not sure Young or Medlen aren't better options. They seem to have Cueto's #.

Houston fans on another forum I'm on are hoping he gives up just enough runs to stick around for 5 - instead of getting run early.

But I think I agree you gotta run him out there. I'm just scared shitless of that first inning. Could they not get like a dribbler, a bloop, a walk and a line drive in the corner? PLEASE?

Hootie 10-14-2015 01:47 PM

Hmm ... A change up pitcher in Medlen against a team who destroyed Madson's change up Monday ... Yeah, no thanks. And as much as I like Young ... Dude is a HR giving up machine.

I realize Cueto was bad with KC but he's simply a no brainer.

The line was KC -137 this morning, it has dropped to -125.

Bad sign IMO

I think you're right. There's a LOT of difference given that each pitcher has such different tenancies, temperaments, and abilities.

In this case I hope Johnny has his best stuff working for him today, and he settles-in without too many "look at my bad-ass twisty moves" antics. Just listen to SP and throw the pitches he tells you to throw, in the locations he tells you to throw them.
