Restructure him. Then walk away from Ford.

I do NOT want to see us give him a long term deal

I prefer to keep him but the contract MUST be restructured.

Pitt Gorilla 02-15-2019 02:22 PM

His contract looks shrewd compared to Berry.

And this too. I wouldn't worry; if they tag him, I can almost guarantee he's going to end up back on the bench. If it were me, I'd deal him RIGHT NOW while the stock is as high as it's ever going to get.

You only keep Houston if you can restructure him. 10 mil a year is reasonable

R Clark 02-15-2019 03:27 PM

Keep him rework the contract,he’s damn good all round linebacker.he brings way more to the field than ford or anyone else we have

he's unlikely a LB anymore. Not in a 4-3 anyway.

If he says no then you move on.

What possible reasons would he have to say yes?

1) We are good
2) His agent doesn't see much $$ interest anywhere else.

Not much else really.

Houston will restructure if we want, he doesn't lose any money and makes him even harder to cut.

CoMoChief 02-15-2019 11:16 PM

Tough decisions.

Man, John Dorsey really ****ed this team into oblivion from a GM standpoint. Then put icing on the cake w/ signing Kareem Hunt. He probably was singing "**** You Kansas City" as he was signing the paper work.

CoMoChief 02-15-2019 11:17 PM

If Houston gets released....he'll be a Patriot and **** KC up the ass come playoff time.

You can almost bet on that......because Chiefs.

2018 stats for Justin Houston

14 games
11 sacks
5 forced fumbles
4 fumble recoveries
10tfl
1int

He just turned 30 a month ago and people want to cut him...

I’d LOVE to give him a new contract for 3 years (making it look like a 5 year deal) averaging
11-13m per season with a low first year cap number so we can keep him and add another talented player to the defense in the process...or used to extend Jones.

I'd be on board with this. I like Houston; just not at $21 million. I doubt it's likely to get his cap number down that far, but I'm all ears.
