I read a thing earlier that basically said Richard Sherman and Russell Okung could **** this up as they are strong voices and will likely want a lot more than this deal offers.

At a bare minimum they need to be pushing hard to get the Week 17 game check up to $2.2 million. That is Russell Wilson's game check salary in a contract based on 16 games. $250,000 cap is a pretty big insult to a bunch of guys around the league, especially when you are asking them to risk injury. The cap number needs to be at least $1 million and I'd push for a lot more than that if I was in the players' shoes.

Hog's Gone Fishin 02-20-2020 06:47 PM

They are also increasing the active game day roster by one player which has to be an OL.

VAGOMO 4 LIFE! 02-20-2020 06:49 PM

Practice squad players increase to 14 instead of 12 now.

Lol you’re still fear mongering about a strike? LMAO

Gravedigger 02-20-2020 06:57 PM

Quick approval means that they wanted to push something they like through, I think the players should push back to get an extra half percent.

Nah I doubt they're enough to sway everyone.

$5 billion raise over 10 years for 17th game. Raise in the % revenue that sets the cap. $1.25 million cap exemption for two players. . Only one tag instead of two tags. One more roster spot. Another two practice squad spots. Sounds like it may get approved by the players.

Last I saw there won't be a substantial increase until 21, this year's cap still expected to be around 200 mill.

RunKC 02-20-2020 07:18 PM

If/when this gets done, FA will be nuts. We won’t be participating early but it will be fascinating to watch these deals.

Agents know that money is coming. Gonna make the current market for each position go way up

The players only care about guaranteed $ on their contracts. They don’t care about the per game check.

Even if they did they are getting that extra 250k for a real game over the basically $0 they get for the pre season games. They come out ahead.

Frosty 02-20-2020 07:26 PM

I wish the league would come up with a way to keep homegrown talent easier. You spend 4-5 years developing a player and then not be able to keep them because they get too expensive. Do something like a 25% salary cap exception of a player's contract if that player was drafted or first signed (UDFA) by a team.

as it should be. There is plenty of money to go around. Players should get a bigger piece of the financial pie.
