What’s CPs obsession with Has-beens?

He's 27 and was good LAST year. No running backs on the Texans roster are faring much better, and they have some good ones.

Lindsey ran wild on us one game and then we shut him down after that, even with terrible Sutton defenses.

I think his spastic running style causes problems when a team isn't prepared for it. But once they adjust, he's not very dangerous.

Didnt dirty Dan lay a hit on him and injure him ? Or was that just McCaffrey i'm thinking of.

he's not that old. Why did he fall off so much in production from his first 2 seasons? I don't know.

Truthfully speaking, I think he overachieved in his first two seasons. Gordon was acquired in his 3rd season and that put him on the backburner in Denver, then he ends up in Houston and nothing good happens in Houston.

listopencil 11-24-2021 10:03 AM

Pros:

He's shifty as **** and he has great acceleration, body control, vision, and speed. Even though he only weighs about 17 pounds soaking wet he runs tough and will go right up the middle if the line gives him so much as a crease to exploit. He will engage and try to block defenders on pass plays. Although he looks like a change of pace scatback he can carry a larger load of plays during a game than you might expect. He's a play maker when the opportunity presents itself.

Cons:

He's not a good receiver and that hurts because short passes would be a great way to get him the ball in space, but he's just as liable to have the ball bounce off of his hands as catch it. He's not a good blocker and you can't expect him to hold up any more than about a half of a second in pass pro on a regular basis. He's most likely not going to be an asset on a passing play at all. Defenses can completely shut him down by flooding the running lanes.

Gordon can run and catch. The Broncos went after Gordon Junior in the draft. Made him expendable.

Have we signed this piece of the ship yet

Exactly and it makes total sense. I think Williams has better upside than Gordon, we just need someone that knows how to get creative with the offense.

I'm just not seeing the benefits here for our offense, really. CEH has (for some reason) not developed into a receiver and is also a liability in pass protection.

Kansas City's Pass Block Win Rate is 66% which is 5th in the NFL.

Kansas City's Run Block Win Rate is 74% which is 4th in the NFL.

I guess I'm not seeing CEH as horrible in pass protection this year. Last year, he needed work and he was a rookie.

I'll start to believe when he's still out there on 3rd downs, which should help his pass catching, too.

I keep waiting for the coaches to mix it up a bit... it doesn't seem their style ... :-)
