Prove me wrong, I guess. Is OBJ already a savvy veteran that doesn't need a mentor or not?

Usually the players that make 3 straight pro bowls are the mentors. Don’t know how bringing in a guy with 1 less pro bowl in twice as many years in the league will do much to help him.

Yes, OBJ is a savvy veteran. We have offensive line coaches as well as a head coach that has been coaching up O-Lineman for about 40 years now.

Eric Fisher isn't gonna be a guy who unlocks the secret sauce for OBJ. They don't play an even remotely similar style of football and are about as physically dissimilar as one can be. This is akin to suggesting that the Royals should re-sign Michael Taylor so he can teach Vinnie Pasquantino how to play.

It's kinda silly.

Well okay, I guess. Though I'm not sure I believe that a 9-year vet (as a top-10 pass-blocking LT for much of that span) doesn't know more about footwork, hand placement, basically the minutiae than a guy that's only been in the league for four years, and mostly as a run-blocker vs. a pass blocker at that. I get that they aren't the same physically, but a lot of those things do translate regardless of size, or at least that's what I've been told.

But I also realize that I never even played on an OL at any level, so what do I know?

But I did fly commercial turboprops for nearly 20 years, and I know that I could teach a four-year guy volumes about the business of flying after just 10 years, but I guess that's just too different from football.

What’s the news on McDuffies injury? Really need him week 1.

Even if he has a concussion, I highly doubt he isn't cleared by the week leading up to Arizona.

He has 17 days.

I guess we could cut one of our 53 hall of famers to sign another one.

Maybe. But I'm a moron that's been right a lot more often than I've been wrong, so there's that.

Regardless, the fact remains starkly the same: we have no one in house that can play LT adequately if OBJ goes down. Never mind that a prime Eric Fisher was far better than whatever we have in OBJ right now. He's decent, but not a top 10 LT by any means. Fish was for years.

Whatever happens, the Chiefs could use a solid LT, as a backup or whatever. Because right now that guy doesn't exist.

Dude. You do know the Chiefs have an OL coach on staff, right?

Hmmmm....

Do you think Geron Christian is worse than Cam Erving? Chiefs won a SB with Cam Erving as the backup LT.

PFF had Erving at 44.8 in 2019. Christian has been above 60 every year of his career with the exception of this last one when he dipped to 59.5.

So, your argument almost literally makes no sense whatsoever.

oldman 08-27-2022 03:43 PM

Christian is the swing OT, at least for now. While I'd love to have Fisher back, he's not coming back for what we could pay him and Brown isn't going to move back to RT.

OBJ might slide to RT in a pinch but that's it.

He's made it apparent his old man, (rip) taught him where the $$ at.
What he didn't teach him was he needed to be a top LT to get the $$ he preached.

I can’t even think of what kind of pinch would move him to RT.
