For sure. And you’re right. Everything you say is right.
My issue is the CP badasses dick measuring about how easy it is to shoot at any range, regardless of the situation. Claims like “yeah I hit 1000+ shots all the time!” Maybe they do but I’ve walked plenty of trigger pullers on target at that range. It’s not an accomplishment. I wish I could do it 100% of the time, and competition shooters much better than me wish they could too.
The small dick vibe in this thread is palpable. “Yeah I hit a that all the time.” Lol

While I am not claiming to be some badass shooter. I'm just a recreational shooter who never shoots as much as I would like. I enjoy a lot of different types of shooting sports. I am especially intrigued by long distance precision shooting.
I took a class that taught us how to use a log book and record our shots. I have my rig doped for conditions on those days from 200-1000 yds. in 100 yd. increments giving me a rough idea of elevation and windage adjustments for those ranges and environmental conditions.
I used to shoot somewhat regularly at a range on the Pala Indian reservation north of San Diego. They had fixed targets at various ranges out to the longest at 887 yards. My log book has a lot of those targets doped for various weather conditions. And of course 600 yds in Montana is Different than 600 yards in San Diego.
You're right I wasn't always on target first shot, sometimes I was sometimes I wasn't. Different temperatures, humidity and wind and my own inconsistencies play into it. I almost always recorded temperature and humidity and log it in my book. I take wind readings at the firing line and when able at the target line. Those were not always the same. I shoot the same Black Hills .308 175 Gr. Match Grade ammo through my rifle.
For me it is an accomplishment to put a round on target whether it takes one shot or several. I shoot for fun. I am not a Team Sniper so its not life or death for me to make a shot. But I have enough data to make things somewhat repeatable and bring me joy when I hear the ring of hitting steal and seeing the smudge of impact.
