Both can be true. Certainly the narrative of this article is Mahomes wouldn't be good without Andy which is complete bullshit. But Reid has a great system for efficiency so Mahomes is going to rack up more yards and TDs in Andys system compared to most coaches.

I think Mahomes still has 2 SBs with almost any coach, but some bad ones he might not have any. Reid may have 0 or 1 with another top NFL QB. So Mahomes is more important than Reid but together they are almost unstoppable .

Mahomes wouldn't have the same volume numbers under Kyle Shanahan but his efficiency would be insane.

So less MVPs but probably several Super Bowl appearances.

The question we probably have to ask is what would Elway or Marino have done on these teams in this era? That’s a hard question to answer.

I think Mahomes is probably as talented as any QB to ever play (and may not have entered his prime yet), but it’s hard to compare eras and circumstances.

Shanahan A) Sends his QBs on designed runs like a moron and B) Has TERRIBLE pass pro concepts that get his QBs murdered.

Shanahan can't hold Reid's jock and it's absurd to even discuss it.

Shanahan isn't unlucky. He creates these issues for himself by exposing his QBs to shots they shouldn't be taking and soon or later they break. He doesn't take care of his toys.

It was never going to happen because Kyle's biggest weakness is underestimating the need for a top QB.

He passed on Mahomes in 2017 because he was waiting for Kirk Cousins to join him.
