Letting Jones walk for nothing would be the first major **** up by Veach since he became GM. I can't imagine him letting that happen.

Not the choice at all.

You can keep your best players if you don't pay guys like MVS 10-11 million a year or Frank Clark 20,000,000 or Anthony Hitchens 10-12 Million.

BTW, Jones cap hit this year is almost 27,000,000 and I don't see a Dan Sorenson on the roster.

So complete fiction what you created.

Love Jonesy. Can't pay him $30m per.

If you can't pay your best defensive player 3 million more a year next year what was the point of assembling a balanced roster?

Should have kept the offense elite then since the defense won't be elite without their best pass-rusher next year.

They won't tag him and take up that much of the cap....it is what it is.

Since Veach isn't incompetent, I expect a tag and trade or a new contract. Letting him walk for nothing is something an AFC West rival would do.

The idea is that Jones is more likely to be more Frank Clark in these later years than Chris Jones of 2022.

I don't think they sink that money into a 3rd contract for a defensive player. Usually doesn't work well.

Agreed. No Jones AND a gaggle (jaggle?) of JAGs at WR? No thanks.

Read the article posted here. They're not gonna tie up 30 however much million into a guy on the cap via the tag during FA.

His agents played the game and ****ed the Chiefs. Time to move on OBJ style.

Who cares about Jones 3 years from now.

The window is open NOW to win as many SB's as they can grab.

Don't pay him a 5 year contract but if he wants a 2 year extension you do it.

O.city 11-17-2023 12:36 PM

They'll cut MVS and extend Justin Reid to free up another 25 million or so.

If the Chiefs operated that way, they would have signed Tyreek and not traded him.

It's not the way they're doing this.

You're gonna be real mad when the Chiefs can't trade up for a WR next Spring bc they only have 5 draft picks and they can't afford a high profile WR in FA bc that money is going to Chris Jones.

They should keep Jones, probably let Sneed walk (we have McDuffie and our scouts are really good at finding corners).

Restructure 15 million of Mahomes roster bonus and grab another weapon and go win another Super Bowl.

They won't need as much $$$$ when Kelce, Jones, Sneed, etc are all gone in 3-4 years.

3-4 years? They'll be paying someone else at that point. That's an eternity in the NFL.

They won't restructure Mahomes deal if they don't have to.
