It was clearly tongue in cheek when you listen to it, but every joke has some truth to it.

Putting it all together, it makes a pretty clear case of why he did what he did, although I think it's more "it was for money but I don't want to just say that so I'll throw out some other things that may have bothered me a bit so I don't sound greedy".

When truthfully....no one really cares if it was money. Everyone is ok with that. The other stuff makes you sound petty and like you're trying to convince yourself you made the right choice.

Context is everything, and he was laughing pretty hard when he said it.

But he did go on to say that wherever he played, he was never the "side chick" never the number 2 option, and with Patrick and Kelce, he was the side chick.
