I do get mad when schools think they save money by shutting off AC/heat overnight. Last school-would run a chiller from 7:40-2:30.
It would take SO LONG to cool off the building the next day, and just when it gets comfortable, off goes the AC. I dont see how it saves money, when it is running full blast all of the other times.

Lots of assumptions or rumors in this. Going into unoccupied mode without a doubt saves huge money on utilities. You either had an ignorant operator at the switch, the equipment hadn’t been maintained, or your information was faulty. If you can drop electricity in that 2:30-5:30 window, you’d drop your demand billing substantially.
