Antonio Pierce was put in the absolute worst possible situation. He was coaching a team that had absolutely no talent and should have been given 2-3 years to try and improve the team.

These shit franchises will never learn.

That would be the most Belichick thing ever

meh, whats the upside with pierce? he very much has interim coach vibes. just rip off the bandaid and get one of the good candidates available in this cycle

Of course. Too bad Tom Brady isn't suiting up at QB, though.

I keep seeing this, but it doesn't mean it's the wrong call.

We'd have been way better off firing Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards after the ****fest he put together than allowing that asstard engineer a "rebuild", which was catastrophic and caused us to be uber desperate and hire Pioli.

Fact of the matter is the shit franchise that never learns part came from hiring him in the first place.

St. Patty's Fire 01-08-2025 11:59 AM

imagine we kept crennel because he was dealt a shitty hand with the Belcher situation and the QB? then andy reid goes somewhere else

then again, lets not

imo this is the right move for the raiders

If a guy was worth hiring in the first place, then you should give him a chance. But it is clear they admit a mistake was made in hiring him. It will be interesting on who they end up with.

Exactly.

Pierce was promoted from linebackers coach when McDaniels was fired. He wasn't even a coordinator.

Prior to that, he was the defensive coordinator with Arizona State in 2021. In fairness to him, ASU was second in total yards and points allowed in the Pac 12, but it's college and not enough of a sample size to say he's a difference maker.

I do think a head coach ideally should bring one side of the ball. That side of the ball needs to be consistent and reliable.

The Raiders are requesting an interview with Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo for their head-coaching spot, per sources.

Holy shit, that truly is the darkest timeline.

Right.

Nobody would've succeeded in any meaningful fashion with the situation Pierce was dropped into.

But Pierce would not have succeeded in any meaningful fashion regardless of the situation he found himself in.

He was in a bad spot. But he's a bad coach.

Both things can be true.

https://x.com/DMRussini/status/1877073953421734259 Bill Belichick has no plans to return to the NFL, per sources.
I’m told his sole focus is on coaching and recruiting for North Carolina, as he continues building the Tar Heels’ future. He’s recruiting today in New Jersey.

jdubya 01-08-2025 01:33 PM

Nobody expected AP to take the Raiders to the playoffs but most of last years roster actually regressed. Aiden got worse, Minshew got worse, the oline got worse…….defense was on IR (not his fault)

Anybody who watched a game this year could see that AP was so out of his league it was a failure all around
