It was frustrating following the Indians in the '60s, 70s and 80s. It was a bit less trying in the '90s. At least I finally got to see them in the Series a couple of times, even though they didn't manage to bring home the hardware. I'd like to see it happen sometime.

And the Rockies are just incredible. None of us are likely to see a run like this ever again in our lifetimes. As it is now they're one of the best baseball stories ever. If the Series goes their way they're one of the top stories ever in all of sport.

I'm leaning toward wanting the Rockies to take it. That would cap a season they could never repeat. Cleveland could get back to the Series and win it another year.

kcxiv 10-16-2007 12:19 AM

Just seen George Brett in the Rockies dug out.

the Talking Can 10-16-2007 12:40 AM

I don't know about that

With the potential of swarms of locust in Cleveland and 30 feet of snow in Denver it might get pretty damn interesting. :p

DenverChief 10-16-2007 10:02 AM

I dunno what to say other than I'm speechless...this team is winning like no other team ....it is so surreal I actually got to see the 3 run shot and jumped and fist pumped....in uniform....I don't think anyone was paying attention to me anyway :)

StcChief 10-16-2007 10:33 AM

Go Cleveland 1948 is along time.

The Rockies expansion team is in Dungver for God's sake.

I don't care about their current streak. Week off and derail that.

but if it's Boston. Go Rockies

Red Sox and Indians game 4 about to kick off. Byrd vs. Wakefield.

tk13 10-16-2007 06:26 PM

Haha, Byrd with the double pump windup, that is hilarious. Struck out Ortiz with it.

Demonpenz 10-16-2007 06:54 PM

byrd was a jerk with the royals but he changes speeds and locations well. He doesn't light up the gun but his disseption is above average on one I saw him win a couple in royal blue

tk13 10-16-2007 07:45 PM

Casey Blake launches a knuckleball deep. 1-0 Indians.

Basileus777 10-16-2007 08:01 PM

tk13 10-16-2007 08:09 PM

7-0 Indians. Kenny Lofton's speed pays off.

Basileus777 10-16-2007 08:11 PM

Kenny Lofton could commit murder in Cleveland right now and they'd let him off the hook.

2112 10-16-2007 08:13 PM

I love it, it's all on Beckett now.

The Indians better win tomorrow or they're gonna be in trouble.

Basileus777 10-16-2007 08:24 PM

Godammit Byrd!

siberian khatru 10-16-2007 08:33 PM

How about the old man going back to his team and getting the job done. He's not just contributing he's kicking ass and taking names. How do you not root for that shit.

tk13 10-16-2007 08:58 PM

Oh my. Cabrera with the major web gem.

tk13 10-16-2007 09:34 PM

Indians win. Lead the series 3-1.

tk13 10-18-2007 06:26 PM

And Kevin Youkilis rips one for a homer. 1-0 Red Sox.

Hammock Parties 10-18-2007 09:16 PM

is there anybody else watching this game other than me that thought they saw something black on Becket's fingers? its his right hand that i thought i saw it on. its when he was sitting in the dugout after the 7th inning.

tk13 10-20-2007 06:25 PM

Game 6 Red Sox/Indians just underway. Schilling vs. Carmona.

Halfcan 10-20-2007 06:46 PM

Go Tribe!

tk13 10-20-2007 06:54 PM

JD Drew just hit a grand slam in the 1st. 4-0 Red Sox.

BigRock 10-20-2007 06:54 PM

That might be Drew's first meaningful hit of the entire season.

**** the Rockies.

As a Denverite who wasted hours online trying to buy tickets, just to get an email saying that I could buy them from stubhub.com FROM mlb.com (who managed the online sales cluster****), they can suck my left nut.

Go Sox!

kcxiv 10-24-2007 08:12 PM

This game is over, i am changing this shit. I dont wanna watch the Sox win again. lol

DaFace 10-24-2007 08:43 PM

Might as well let the Red Sox get all of the offense out of their system, or something. It's 11pm and we're still in the 5th inning.

Deberg_1990 10-24-2007 09:03 PM

This world series almost seems like an afterthought...

Deberg_1990 10-25-2007 06:43 PM

Schilling looks OLD....

1ChiefsDan 10-25-2007 06:45 PM

As long as he pitches like an old man I will be happy.

I don't think it'll be much different in Denver.

Amnorix 10-25-2007 10:42 PM

Dunno about the Rox's pitchers, but the Sox pitchers for games 3 and 4 are nothing special. We'll see if they can limit the damage.

But pencil Beckett in for a win in game 5, and the Rockies have a helluva mountain to climb here. They're basically forced to win all 4 games that aren't started by Beckett for the rest of this series...

Amnorix 10-25-2007 10:43 PM

P.S. 2 runs in 18 innings in the WS for the Rockies so far. Ouch.

DenverChief 10-25-2007 11:07 PM

yuck yuck yuck....go ahead and count em out guys please just think you have won the series already ...really please

you must have forgot it was the Rox that beat Buckett when he was 9-0

I don't know who I hate worse...

The Rockies who should have been closed out by Zona in the final week of the season (Great job Snakes)

or

The Crap Sox and their continuous legion of crying baby fans.

you hate the Rockies because another team couldn't finish them off? :spock:

oh yeah Amnorix FWIW Fogg has been good when we need him...just kind of an odd pitcher...and Cook well

Quote:

When I first tell you that the Rockies Opening Day starter today is Aaron Cook, you might use that as fuel to poke fun at the Colorado franchise. After all, who is Aaron Cook? Moreover, how is a guy who went 9-15 last year good enough to start on Opening Day? Well once you hear about what Cook went through two and a half years ago, you will reserve all jokes and revel in amazement over what he has overcome.

On Aug. 7, 2004, Cook was forced to leave a game at Coors Field because of dizziness and shortness of breath. A few hours later, tests revealed pulmonary embolisms - blood clots - in his lungs.

As noted in Player Profiles (which unfortunately is subscription based), the surgery was gruesome:

Aaron had the top rib on his right side removed to relieve compression on his subclavian vein in an eight-hour procedure performed by Dr. Robert Thompson at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

What is now a surgical souvenir was a lethal piece of bone. The rib was pressing against Cook's collarbone, restricting the flow of blood through a vein in his right shoulder. The blood clots that traveled to Cook's lungs and ended his season during an Aug. 7 start - and very nearly his life - originated in that shoulder.

Here's the kicker:

In the first few days after surgery, Cook said, he was "crying in pain." Fluid in his lungs contributed to chest spasms and made breathing difficult. Once he gets back on the field, Cook said, he will realize how much he had to endure in order to return. "I don't think I can wish this surgery on my worst enemy," Cook said. "That's how much pain I was in."

From "crying in pain" to becoming the Opening Day starter in two and a half years? Well done Aaron, I am truly in awe. (And I'll try to remember this story when I'm contemplating bashing you after a bad start)

That isn't the only reason. They shouldn't be in the playoffs this year let alone the world series. Flat out. They beat a mediocre Philly team and then stomped Zona but it shouldn't have came to that. All the Snakes needed to do is win one of their last two games against them but they didn't. You know why? Because Arizona already had a playoff spot so they could care less. And the end result, CO knocks them out. Serves them right I guess.

Anyway, doesn't really matter know because its pretty obvious that the Rockies are not in the same category as the SOX.

we will see....they play the game for a reason...and 2-1 isn't that bad.....the Rox took two of three against Boston when Buckett was 9-0, handed him his first loss

3 games really don't mean much. He** even the Royals took 2 of 3 at fenway this year.
