Welcome to unemployment Herm!

Finally have a chance to post about this.

I had been working on a video today in anticipation of the hiring, I'm uploading it now and we should have a look at it later this evening.

I walk into my apartment after traveling all day. I turn my phone back on (I always forget to do that) and I see 13 new voicemails. Hmm. That does seem a bit above the norm so I pick up the phone to dial. As I do so I click on Chiefsplanet to get my fix for KC related news. I see this thread. At the same time I do, the first message of my buddy screaming jubilantly begins to play. I begin dancing. And I don't care who sees me.

Many, many, many moons ago, I was having the usual discussions at a different Board and I brought up the fact that because of so many years of dry-spell before Carl, and the dumb****ery during Carl, the very concept of a Chiefs Dynasty seemed so far away, so impossible, that the term just wasn't part of the fan lexicon.

I mean look at it:

"Chiefs Dynasty"

"Kansas City Dynasty"

A dream thought impossible for a long, long time.

Until now.

**** it; I'm getting plowed this weekend!

At the very least we should expect to be paying a premium for tickets in the near future. New England has had the highest ticket prices in the league for a while now and their average ticket price is $117 per game which is 40 dollars more than what the Chiefs are charging.

A new stadium, 4 Super Bowl appearances and a much higher cost of living will do that.

I don't know if I buy into this. There's a lot more money in Boston than there is in Kansas City. I don't think those prices would fly here, regardless of how the team is performing.

I hope not, I can barely afford my 2 tickets now. Maybe they won't do the same here. Back in Boston and that area folks have serious money and make big bucks compared to this part of the country. I'm just gonna enjoy the moment!

Pioli has control over football operations, not the business side. That will be up to Thum or whoever the permanent President is.

KcMizzou 01-13-2009 10:07 PM

Personally, I think the prospect of winning outweighs what may, or may not happen to ticket prices.

Granted, I'm not a season ticket holder, but I did drop $150 to see MU/KU this season. If I wanna go bad enough, I'll find a way.

Personally, I think you're putting the cart before the horse.

We might win more, so tickets might be more expensive?? Great!

But he had a very talented group of pass rushers in NY. He made the defense better and won the Giants a Superbowl, but you can't attribute the success of Osi and Tuck solely to Spags as if they woudln't be good NFL players without him.

Never once did I say he was solely responsible for their success, that would be a ridiculous statement. The point I was attempting to is that with better coaching players like Dorsey, Hali and Derrick Johnson could go from being talked about as underachievers to productive players.

Ticket prices are absolutely irrelevant. If we win a Super Bowl I want a seat between the 20s in the lower level NO MATTER THE COST for the first home game the following season. The first home game after a Super Bowl is like a great big coronation.

It's an exciting day, I let out an audible "whoa" when I saw this news on my cell phone earlier tonight. Major kudos to Clark for getting it done. I don't think it's really sunk in yet, but it should be exciting to see what happens.

I know it doesn't always mean success... but I have to say one of the first things that came to mind was how cool it actually might be to be a KC sports fan for once. Somehow we've landed the two hottest GM prospects in football and baseball to remodel the Chiefs and Royals. That is unbelievably awesome.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. Hopefully people won't start to go cold on Pioli as quickly as some have on Moore. I mean, I'd assume nobody will ask for his head if the Chiefs aren't 11-5 next year...

Pioli gives the Chiefs instant credibility that those guys, or Eric DeCosta, my choice couldn't.

I don't think most people realize that you were just joking.

You WERE joking, right?

I remember when Frank Gansz was head coach during the other really dark years. After every loss you'd hear him talk about how well the team played and how much progress they were making. Fast forward 20 years. Herm Edwards is Frank Gansz all over again. Total BS, very few wins.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a coach who gets pissed off when the Chiefs lose instead of a coach who tells us how much progress they are making? Vince Lombardi used to get so pissed off at his players when he was going over game films on Mondays after a victory that the players would ask each other "who won the damn game, anyway?". Herm Edwards pats himself on the back and talks about progress so much that you'd think they went 12-4 and 14-2 the last two years.

Herm Edwards sucks as a head coach. Thank God Pioli is going to can his ass.

I can't believe I mentioned Herm Edwards and Vince Lombardi in the same paragraph. I'm sorry Vince. I'm sure you are spinning in your grave right about now. However, mentioning Herm Edwards and Frank Gansz in the same paragraph is completely appropriate.

It's a great morning. Pioli is still the GM of the Kansas City Chiefs.

If Herm was gone it would be much better. :)

Hopefully, Pioli fires Herm at the beginning of his introductory press conference.
