Yeah, that's been the one thing that's gone through my mind watching them all season... get Toews some help without splitting up Kane and Panarin... and uh, they succeeded.

Yeah, when they get into close games it's inevitable that they'll combine lines and run with Ladd-Toews-Hossa & Panarin-Anisimov-Kane.

Good lord.

If the Preds do get a Wild Card, hope they get the Pacific Bracket now lol

Just got back from the Avs-Wings alumni game. Not the best way to watch a real game necessarily, but it was a lot of fun to watch the old guys go at it again. Fun atmosphere if nothing else.

This is a solid move for the Cats. They gained some speed, size & skill.

BS calls today against Florida. Especially that penalty with 5 seconds left in the 3rd. Luongo also gets plowed into and no call. Oh well got a point I'll take it

Yep I was stoked as hell when I saw the trade

MMXcalibur 02-28-2016 12:13 AM

Penguins trade for Justin Schultz from Edmonton for a 2016 3rd rounder.

Meh....Pens need defensive help, but Schultz sucks something fierce defensively. He's there to help the power play and be a puck mover like Daley. If he hits it off with the Pens, he's an RFA entering the offseason so the Pens can negotiate. If not, let him walk.

Praying that old man Rutherford doesn't deal another 1st rounder for a rental.

ChiefsCountry 03-01-2016 09:31 PM

Because they are the Blues, totally dominate Ottawa tonight then let them tie it up .1 left in the 3rd. Typical Blues.

Then they win in 11 round shootout.

DaFace 03-01-2016 09:45 PM

Avs lost to the Wild after Varly failed to show up. :sulk:

Rams Fan 03-01-2016 10:00 PM

If they somehow manage to get out of the 1st round I'll be happy.

Yeah, I don't know why they felt the need to put a bunch of fake snow all over the place. So we didn't have any snow the week the game was here. So what?

Normal grass certainly would've been preferable to having that stuff flying all over the place.

That's bullshit if so (the Blackhawks, not the Blues). They're ruining the stadium games by constantly showing Chicago.

KCUnited 03-08-2016 05:42 PM

Chicago has lost more stadium games than most teams have played in.

Announcement being made tonight before the game.

Can't wait to see what this is going to cost me.

And the league bowed to all the bitching from the Maple Leafs and created the "Centennial Classic" where the Leafs will host the Wings on New Year's Day.

I was a lot more excited about the Avs' version before the prices came out. Cheap seats were around $150 I think. I ended up getting a ticket to the alumni game alone, and that was great for me.

OnTheWarpath15 03-09-2016 06:00 PM

The league is really devaluing these games by having the same handful of teams playing every year.

Bitching Maple Leafs? Oh, I'm sorry, I guess the Leafs should just ignore their 100th year and just watch the Blackhawks get every favor from the league.

Reaves ejected on a questionable game misconduct penalty. Chicago spent almost an entire half of the first period on the power play.

That was a tough call on Reaves.

No consistency between the Reaves call and that last Seabrook hit. Both "looked" bad. So why is one a game misconduct and the other nothing? But hey, let's let both sides get away with interference as make-ups.

I may sound like Knowmo but, under Brendan Shanahan the Leafs have embarked on the most thorough rebuild in the history of Professional Sports.

I won't bore everyone with the details, but, they're using their wealth as a franchise to build a great management team that have already done some amazing things.

It should be a few years until they get to where they want to be but watching the process has been fascinating. I haven't been as interested in the Leafs since the mid 90's Dougie Gilmour days.

You'll see. You'll all see.

Some teams seem scared to trade away their core players, whether they spin their wheels with half-assed rebuilds or perpetually believe they're one piece away... Toronto definitely doesn't seem shy about dumping what isn't working.

Well, message not delivered considering the league rescinded the major and removed it from his statistical record.

When the league actually admits they ****ed up, you know they ****ed up bad.

Other than the 9 minutes of power play the Hawks had in the first 22 minutes of the game, the Blues pretty much controlled the play.

Would be nice to see the same tonight against another Western Conference heavyweight.

Not a big fan of Carl, but I guess he's trying to prove that that it was money well spent with that pretty assist tonight. It's definitely a sign that Shatty won't be re-upped. If it wasn't known based on Petro's salary and what Shatty will demand, this deal plus all the young D (Parayko, Edmundson, Lindbohm, Bortz) seals the deal.

Edit: Gotta let Backes walk, no need to bring him back at an inflated price.

Chances are pretty high that Auston Matthews is drafted by a Canadian team.
Ideally, for the league, he'd go to Arizona and prop up the fan base there but we'll see what happens.

BTW - I'm really enjoying Toronto's "scorched earth" approach. The fans have been calling for it for years and the kids they're bringing up don't look out of place. The fact that they keep losing games by 1 goal only makes things better.

Watch Hitchcock start Allen in the next game, Allen gets a shutout and Hitch creates a goalie controversy out of it.

Because Hitch.

Elliott has to be the guy. He's been amazing since Allen went down. Frankly, he's always been given short shrift around here. His numbers compare favorably to literally every single goalie in the NHL since he's been a Blue. Price, Quick, Lundqvist - none of them have been demonstrably better than Elliott over the last several years.

But when the playoffs come, Hitch seems determined to bury Elliott and it seems to all spring from a single bad game (hell, a single bad goal) against the Kings a few years back. That game 4 loss against the Kings where he gave up 4 seemed seems to have permanently tarnished him. Don't get me wrong, that game was BAD. We had a 2-0 lead and even after coughing that up, took a 3-2 lead to the third only to lose 4-3. The series went from the Blues being up 3-1 and heading back to STL to being tied at 2-2.

And then of course Blues stuff happened, they scored 3 goals in the last 2 games and went home early. I just don't think it's fair to hang that on Elliott.

Predarat 03-29-2016 10:23 AM

Damn, the AVS play terrible vs in a 4 point game the wild then play damn good vs Nashville last night. Good win for them, but it may be too late.

Unsurprisingly, Allen pitched a shutout in his last start (after 2 straight from Elliott) and of course Hitch says that he won't be naming a #1 for the post-season but rather both goalies will likely play in the playoffs.

All 6 games of it.

#Bluesstuff.....nothing changes but the date.
