This is seriously the best thread CP has all year. Love reading you guys.
|
The Saints have a 3rd round compensatory pick too?
****ing awesome |
Wait, Quincy Wilson lasted until the end of the 2nd round?
And KC passed on him there for Tim Williams? http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hYB-LXxyMN...the-office.gif |
I like Tim Williams, but I'm not sure what his ceiling is.

For a 2nd round pick, that's a solid return. |

I'll talk more about that as the specific players come off the board...but I'm hoping I get lucky again. |
Pittsburgh selects Adam Shaheen, TE, Ashford

With the 63rd pick in the NFL draft,
The Atlanta Falcons Select, Montravius Adams, DT, Auburn Again, plenty of talent out there the Falcons like, but once again its the DLine that gets the call. We all watched the Super Bowl, that defense got worn out. There are plenty of DTs on the board that I like her, but I think Adams best fits what the Falcons do. Looks like Fat Scott is having another good defensive draft! |

I don't think he will be a brick wall against the run, but I think he has the potential to be a plus defender against the run. My concern with him is his intelligence and ability to not be fooled by misdirection, screens, etc. If he can overcome those weaknesses, I see a possible James Harrison. |
With the 64th pick of the 2017 CP Mock Draft,
The Carolina Panthers select Roderick Johnson, Tackle, Florida State University so I know the Panthers just threw a big pile of money at Matt Kalil, but would you rather pay Matt Kalil a lot of money and not fix your LT problem or pay Matt Kalil a lot of money and probably fix your LT problem? Johnson isn't the most nimble tackle out there but he's very effective in pass protection. He's also powerful in the ru game, which makes him a good fit for the offense going forward centered around Fournette and Stewart. He was the last guy we thought could man the position so we had to jump on him here. |
Now that that's out of the way...

I wanted Garcia. (Thought you'd get some satisfaction out of that.) |

Give Cleveland a minute. Cleveland just got into a hotel room and needs to catch up on the picks.
And just to make you jealous, I took this picture on the balcony of my hotel room. |

KCs pass rush has hit a wall going into the playoffs every year under Reid...my hope is that Williams ends that. Hopefully, getting a guy like him on the roster as Tamba Halis career winds down can help him improve his game and therefore help the defense take that important next step. Plus, I see the defense as having a lot of nice guys on it, lots of guys that say the right thing, are great in the community, etc. I honestly think the defense is missing that one nasty mother****er that sets the tone. A guy that will hit a QB late early in the game and stay in his head. A guy that plays through the whistle and sells out. I think Williams would add an element to the defense that we sorely need. |
A buzz arises from the crowd as a nondescript man enters the auditorium. Who is he? People squint and whisper as he quietly walks toward the stage.
|
And then suddenly a tiger bounds in behind him!
Everyone gasps in realization. The announcer is Cleveland resident Bil Watterson, the creator of Calvin and Hobbes! https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...d2e777105e.jpg |
As Bil takes the stage, we see Calvin and Hobbes portraying the once-vaunted defense of the Cleveland Browns.

Bil steps to the mic and clears his throat:
With the 3-65 pick in the 2017 NFL annual player selection meeting, the Cleveland Browns select Ryan Anderson, Outside Linebacker, Alabama. http://izquotes.com/images/bill-watterson.jpg |
Cleveland felt that Anderson would be a good team player who can challenge for a starting spot immediately. While we don't necessarily need a starter at that position, he was a talent-based pick and can also provide a bit of a pass rush.

San Francisco is on the clock and has been duly notified.

If the real draft falls this way, I'd love to see Dorsey start packaging late rounders to move up in the third. I mean this is the third round and there are a handful of prospects with late first/early second round grades still out there.
Go get them, Dorsey. No way do all 10 draft picks make the roster. Quality > Quantity Come out of the draft with 6-7 high quality players and let's roll. |

I think both he and Tim Williams are being severely underrated by some here because neither was a full time 3 down player...but both guys are very very talented. It kind of reminds me of when USC had a bunch of LBers that one year and the guy that didn't even start went on to be the best of all of them. Clay Matthews. Alabamas defense was stupid deep. |

Or am I judging him incorrectly and you think he could be the next Russel Wilson/Dak Prescott? |
I think Watson is closer to Smith than Wilson. While he does have some limitations the difference between him and Smith is that he's willing to take chances. I think we all would be pretty happy with Smith if he took some chances but for whatever reason he refuses to do so.
|
Quote:
I just think he's gonna hit his ceiling early in his career and I'm not sure that ceiling is enough to win a title with. Andy Reid seems to be in love with Watson, though...so who knows? Maybe Watson is our Dak Prescott/Russel Wilson. |

Draft is updated and 3rd round is up.
I'm quite busy the rest of the day. Can only manage occasional check-ins on my phone. You may want to PM picks to another owner if you need to do that. |
Continuing with our 'set up next year's QB to succeed' plan, the 49ers see a no-brainer on the board here.
Zay Jones, WR - Eastern Carolina Bit raw coming from a small school but every tool you could want in a wideout. A big, massively productive hands-catcher that will be a fantastic security blanket. A high character guy from a football family (noticing a trend here); teaming him with McCaffrey will give the 49ers an excellent start in gathering up weapons for their eventual QBOTF. I'm not gonna lie - I love this pick for the 49ers. Long game, John. Gotta stick with the long game, buddy. |
I hope to hell that our division rivals don't have the drafts they are having in this mock.
|
loving the first two picks Boss!! Keep it up :thumb:

I don't particularly agree with that article's breakdown, I think there's alot of bad film analysis in there based on watching the same thing. |

The Chicago Bears select Dawuane Smoot, OLB/DE, University of Illinois

With the 68th pick in the NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Desmond King, CB, Iowa
Jags spent a lot of money on A.J. Bouye to play opposite of Jalen Ramsey, but don't have any depth to speak of. King has slid down the draft board because of his size, but he's a great fit for Jacksonville where he can nail down the nickel spot from day one, and if needed start at CB or transform into a Saftey. He also gives the Jags a nice return man. This might not be a sexy pick, but getting a guy in the third that is ready to start is a steel. |

My rookie qb looked like stank ass last year because he had no one to throw to and the ol was meh. I don't like the ol value here but I'm gonna try and load up on skill guys

It would be strange to see an NFL game in such a small stadium. |
New England's celebrity draft picker is about to enter the room.
|
Could it be anyone else? Is there anyone more famous in Boston than...Boston?
The surviving members of the band leap up onto the stage and offer a quick rendition of "Just Another Band Out of Boston". <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/toBcihs1gOQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Bassist Tom Scholtz steps to the microphone. We have our pick, and we have more than a feeling about this.
With the 3-72 pick in the 2017 annual player selection process, the New England Patriots select Josh Jones, Safety, North Carolina State. |
Cincinnati has been notified that they are on the clock. Bill Belichick sent them an adorable small stuffed tiger that has the note on its collar and a camera hidden inside its mouth.

I of course live in CA
So I'm thinking bout it my brother wants to go tickets are 195 plus though |
The Cincinnati Bengals Select Chidobe Awuzie CB Colorado

Yeah that's why I thought he was picked already. I went a few pages back and quickly scanned. He is a really good prospect. I think he will take some coaching to get his full potential.
