Kansas needs to stop dicking around and trying to run half court sets when they have 2 and 3 on 1 breaks.

Exactly. Push the ball like they did on that last lob.

Dunit35 12-02-2017 06:31 PM

I feel much more comfortable when Svi or Graham shoots a 3 compared to Newman.

Reerun_KC 12-02-2017 06:35 PM

UziBookie is going to hurt someone this year in a dunk

jimidollar 12-02-2017 06:37 PM

Not pretty at times, but a solid win. 76-60.

Yep been saying it all year. He has much better low post footwork than I thought a guy his size would have, but a guy that big he's pretty bad rebounder. Although it says he got 9 tonight, but he got outworked by tons of rebounds he was technically in position for.

Newman was shooting 50% from behind the arc coming into this game. I think he'll be all right.

Devonte Graham back in the POY race.

18.6 PPG, 8 APG, 4.6 RPG, 47% FG. 41% 3FG. 92% FT

Trae Young might be a bit of a problem there.

Exactly the problem.

From the KC Star yesterday:

Preston has not played in a regular-season game this season as the KU athletic department looks into the financial picture surrounding the vehicle he’s been driving.

its obvious a booster/agent someone along those lines gave him the car.

I've already posted in here how I got that info.

BWillie 12-05-2017 11:32 PM

It seems to me that KU is doing an internal investigation and basically just keeping Preston out X amount of games. Probably for the semester. I believe the same thing happened with Selby. I am about 80% confident Preston will play this year in a KU uniform. I'm sure KU compliance office will put feelers out to the NCAA to get an idea if that "self imposed" sentence appears reasonable or not, and they'll get an idea if it is or not.

BWillie 12-05-2017 11:34 PM

Anybody going to the Washington game at the Sprint Center Wednesday night? I absolutely love going to these games. I feel like most KU fans don't really care about the Sprint Center games as much as me. I go down there early, have some drinks & grub at Power and Light, have some fun and go into the Sprint Center get free drinks at the UMB Bank lounge. Can get great seats for way cheaper than AFH. I scored two seats virtually courtside MID COURT two rows up for $120 a piece on Craigslist. Good deal if you ask me, those are $500 tickets at AFH.

threebag 12-06-2017 07:40 AM

Have fun

SithCeNtZ 12-06-2017 09:16 PM

Basically just watching our March exit right now. Foul trouble, missing threes, and a general lack of energy.

KC_Connection 12-06-2017 09:20 PM

Somebody who gets the "yips" against the shitty zone of the University of Washington is not likely to be a good NBA player.

That's for sure. The crowd has no energy and it's affecting the outcome of this game right now.

TambaBerry 12-06-2017 09:27 PM

The worst part of playing at Sprint center is they consider it a home game

CoMoChief 12-06-2017 09:37 PM

Why does KU suck complete ASS when playing in the Sprint Center?

KC_Connection 12-06-2017 09:39 PM

They are literally giving up a 2 on 1 within 5 feet of the rim and Vick is not consistently attacking it well at all. What an embarrassment.

TambaBerry 12-06-2017 09:42 PM

This is by far the most pathetic game I've ever seen

Bad loss tonight. Sprint Center games are shite.

KC_Connection 12-06-2017 09:48 PM

Fran is great. One of the few analysts on this awful network that actually knows what he's talking about. Why blame him for pointing out how trash KU is playing in this game (and how bad Vick has actually been despite the point total)? It is true.

If I had his job and wasn't a KU fan, I would too. KU loses so rarely especially to garbage teams like Washington.

KC_Connection 12-06-2017 09:54 PM

So apparently this is what this team is when you take away Devonte Graham's passing ability, Udoka's post game and KU's 3PT shooting. There's not a hell of a lot there.

Trent Green GOAT 12-06-2017 09:55 PM

What a shit stain of a game.

KC_Connection 12-06-2017 10:00 PM

Worst loss since TCU in 2013. Washington was literally giving up a 2 on 1 on every possession with that zone to prevent any threes and KU didn't attack that weakness at all.

Mr_Tomahawk 12-06-2017 10:04 PM

Throw the game tape away and move on. We shit the bed like this every couple of years.

I wouldn't. Other teams are going to watch this game tape and try to attempt to do the same thing Washington did. When they do, Vick/KU better be actually ready to exploit the enormous weakness in that zone.

Pants 12-06-2017 10:17 PM

Is there a reason we didn't park Mitch right in the middle of that zone? That shot is Mitch's strength.

sedated 12-06-2017 10:17 PM

KCC is saying what I was screaming all game, they sold out to stop the 3. If we could play a bit of 2 man game in the paint we'd have gotten a bucket every possession.

Good to face this early, now practice against it and adjust. But...kinda disappointing that either Self didnt make the adjustment earlier or the team didnt listen.

Right. I think you could roll me out there and I could at least hit some 10 footers.

It's a good point, but they shouldn't have even needed to. All they had to do was throw the ball to Vick and all he had to do was then make a quick decision to shoot, attack the rim or pass/lob to Udoka/Mitch on the 2 on 1. He just rarely did. Washington's coach was literally giving up free 2PT baskets with that zone!

Reerun_KC 12-06-2017 10:24 PM

Little point in taking 10 footers when there is a guy open 4 feet from the bucket. Vick had a lot of points but could've been more productive by drawing the ONE defender and passing into a layup.

Live and learn I guess.

KC_Connection 12-06-2017 10:28 PM

If you stuck guys like Josh Jackson or even Perry Ellis (*shudder*) in the middle of that zone where Vick was, I guarantee their coach gives up on that strategy within 10 minutes. Vick just simply has to be better or they have to find somebody else who will be.

They're going to be seeing zones a lot more often this season because 3PT shooting is really the only way this team can score effectively.

Buehler445 12-06-2017 10:28 PM

So, if you guys forgot. Jamari Traylor wasn't good at a lot, but he could slay a zone.

Watch this game and appreciate Traylor.

Yeah. Just step one foot forward, draw that guy towards you, and drop off or lob to Udoka for a dunk. Why was this so hard? LMAO

Yeppers. Almost looked like Bill let them flounder a bit. Next couple of practices are going to be brutal.

Preston should be cleared soon and Cunliffe (transfer) is eligible to play on 12-16-17. This will be a different team once they're acclimated and in the rotation.

Dont agree. We got systematically beaten and I hate to say it outcoached. What a fascinating strategy by Washington. They figured out a way to totally neutralize our 3 pt shooting while allowing any contested layup from the middle of the zone. They literally were allowing the ball to go to Vick in the middle. Graham, Newman and Svi all had literally 2 or 3 good looks from deep all game when they usually get 20. Washington knew we suck at driving the ball, dont have a reasonable 4th big, and dont draw fouls. Exploited us perfectly. That is as much of a blueprint to beat a given team as ive seen.

Looked like Bill adopted a laissez faire approach in this game. Seems like we see this at almost every year before division play starts. Not sure if that's long term coaching strategy for a long season or my imagination. I do believe (if healthy) this team will look exponentially better come March. More coaching/experience for the young players... and two good players still in reserve. (Not many teams can say that.) MHO. Time will tell.
