Playoffs are too far out unless the group needs that much time to plan.

Doubt the fellas with young(ish)families are going to have much flexibility prior to the playoffs. Lots of gatherings, holiday parties, etc.

I was just at McFates on Monday for the first time ever. Great beer selection and good food. Too short staffed as it took forever to get anything.

The King Sized Candy Bar Stout is phenomenal.... it makes the regular candy bar stout seem wimpy, but would probably be pretty good on its own, too.

The south location would be good for watching football, haven't been to the north one.

North one has the better pizzas but prefer hanging at the south location.

I had the Coconut Bliss one as I am a HUGE fan of Mounds and Almond Joy but noy so much Reese's or Snickers.

North does have two pizzas that actually include meat, that's nice... but, then no chili nachos like the south location. :spock:



The Coconut Bliss is my 2nd favorite, pretty coconuty. They apparently steep large amounts of peanuts for those stouts... I figured it had to be extract, but the aroma and taste of the peanuts is surprisingly great (if you like that sort of thing).

I was in Mesa, Arizona this past Thanksgiving, as my wifes Aunt lives down there. First time I have ever been to Arizona, bit of a culture shock to see "rocks" in most of the yards and no grass! :-)

Zach and I are in...I've never been to the north location of McFates which is funny since it's literally drunken walking distance from my house (pic of my backyard cantina) so I'm down wherever.

Watching this game with my 4th generation Chiefs fan son (his first playoff game!) and my second generation, lifelong Chiefs fan father. If only my first generation Chiefs fan and previous season ticket holder grandpa was here to watch this.

Google Wickenburg Ranch, resort by Trilogy just north of town. Great little community and wonderful small town atmosphere. Roping capital of the world. Far enough away from the madness and close enough to get to it, if you want.

I stop and pee there on my way to Vegas. :)

My cousin is a chef at Talking Stick. He grew up in Kansas City, AND we took him to his first NFL in KC, where he also got into a luxury box.

Despite this, he went to the dark side and became a Packers fan. The family still talks to him, but it's rather strained.

SCOUTING REPORT

OK, stopped by McFates this afternoon. There are two tv screens on each end of the bar; not huge TV's or bar.

For closest viewing of the TV's we'd have to all sit at the bar side by side...don't care but doesn't make for the best chance to interact. We can sit at tables but are considerably farther away from the smallish TV's.

Like Scho 63 mentioned we can hoof it a few feet and go to Ernie's for the game, but that's definitely a sports bar, and not the...how do I say it...the most elite of clientele frequent that dive...and I'm not sure I'd want to hear it from some Colts jackasses if the unthinkable were to happen. I might punch somebody in the face.

I DO SAY THIS; we need to get to McFates by 2:00 so we have optimal choices in how we view the game...I think that's where we want to stay.

Oh, and McFates DOES have a bigger selection of really good beer.

I always go to Vegas through Flagstaff. Is Wickenburg worth an hour and a half detour when going to/ from Payson area?

Bar worked out fine. If it had been crowded and we didn't get the right seats it would have been a problem. There was no sound as they played music for the rest of the patrons.

eDave, JohnnyV came up from Tuscon again, Fan4ever and his son Zach and Scho63. We had a real nice time.

I'm up for another get together next week. I think Two Brothers private room is great for next week.
