THAT was extreme. Even by Denver standards. Blew a big grill off my back patio. Wow.

I was supposed to have a meeting up in the north metro area today, and we canceled it this morning when it was only slightly raining and I just worked from home. Between that time and 4:00 we got 8 inches of snow, so it must have been coming down pretty good. But it was more or less a peaceful snow in central Denver. |

Who knows how many people are stuck in that danger zone that have been running their engines for 8 hours now, 5 miles from an exit, gas gauge draining...scary situation. |
I hate the wind.
Blew part of the privacy fence down. Technically it belongs to the neighbor but now my dogs are stuck inside until it gets fixed. |
Looking at the radar was pretty crazy today. It looked like a weak hurricane with the eye in western KS. there wasn't of course a well defined eye wall or anything, but it definitely had the characteristic cyclone pattern of a small hurricane, with the pressure drop to match.

Amazon shut down all deliveries today in Denver and it worked out great for me as that was one of the regions I was creating routes and assigning drivers for.
90 MPH winds and also our Texas facility had a roof blown off. Cyclone bomb is the real deal! |
We came out to Colorado Springs Great Wolf Lodge and had decided to come last night because of the warnings. I’m glad we did. This is a shit show rodeo. Supposedly had 90MPH winds. I’m not sure I believe that but it was every bit of 60 and a foot of snow. Which is still falling. They closed about ****ing every road in and out.

Boss is snowed in in Breckenridge, CO. He was supposed to be back tomorrow, but looks like it will be Monday. Payday is tomorrow, though, and he's the only one who can sign checks. No big deal, but it would absolutely suck if we were strapped for cash.

South Dakota is still closed!

There's a table on the patio, and the snow is also UNDER the table - so the glass is well supported lol.

When the front came thru SW Mo yesterday, it was strong enough to rip the fascia off of my shop. Arg!

We had several inches of wet heavy snow and 60mph winds since yesterday noon. Winds have slowed to the 25mph range. Lost power last night at 6pm and got it back on about 2am. Thank God temps were in the 25 degree range because it could of gotten cold real quick after the power went if it had been around zero. Looking around I see some 4ft drifts but see any major damage. Friends lost 3 trees in their yard and an attached patio canopy type thing.
|
We had 50 inches of February snows, melt in a 24 hour period along with rain. Much of Eastern Nebraska is now ocean front property..

The worst part is the big rivers are still 2 months away. When the snows in the Dakotas start melting, the fun is going to start. 1993 and 2008, here were come again. |
Yup

Better stock up on the arm floaty things before they sell out. My farm ended up with a flood control pond on the upper Grand river drainage after the 93 floods if I remember correctly.

In 2008, downtown Cedar Rapids had like 10 feet of water in it. Not looking forward to this spring. |

Kansas City to break winter record: Most days without hitting 65 degrees in a century
Kansas City can’t get a break this winter — and we aren’t talking about snow or ice. It’s been cold, nonstop. It’s been 133 days since the high temperature reached 65 degrees at Kansas City International Airport, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill. [...] Kansas City had 6.97 inches of precipitation for the three-month winter period. At 2.91 inches above normal, this was the 10th wettest winter on record. Each month had above-normal precipitation, only the 7th time that has happened in Kansas City’s history. The months leading into the winter period were wetter than usual too. Between Oct. 1 and March 3, Kansas City has had 19.46 inches of total precipitation. That’s the most in 131 years in Kansas City, according to the weather service. Update: Kansas City once again failed to reach 65 degrees Wednesday, when the high temperature was 62. The streak continued Thursday with temperatures in the 40s.1 |

High Winds Cause Train Derailment In Northern New Mexico https://i.imgur.com/II4RH9B.jpg Santa Fe —High winds caused a train derailment in New Mexico, around 40 miles north of I-40 and Tucumcari. Here is a statement from the Senate Republicans: High winds are no secret in New Mexico, but winds strong enough to blow a train off its tracks, off a train trestle and down into a deep ravine are alarming. State Senator Pat Woods (R-Broadview) represents the district where 26 cars of a Union Pacific train were derailed because of high winds near Logan, New Mexico this afternoon. Senator Woods said it is a reminder that New Mexico winds can be extremely dangerous and people need to heed high wind warnings and take them very seriously. |

Between Wednesday and Friday morning I got a little more than a foot of snow at my house. Some of the areas around me got twice that. Today is gorgeous though, 40s and the sun is out. Everyone is out in shorts & t-shirts. |
