He was off air. But they had some kind of premium "behind the scenes content" thing going on, and I guess people aren't ready for what actually gets said behind the scenes.

So the Browns got a solid offensive coach and have OBJ, Hunt, NJoku, Chubb, Landry and just added Hooper.

They also just signed Conklin and will draft one of the 4 excellent LT’s available in the draft.

If Baker still sucks after having THAT supporting cast, then he should be in the XFL

Myles Garrett will also start the season.

You're right; the Browns have no excuses going into this season. Unless they get smacked hard by the injury bug, they should at the very, very least, be a 9-7 team, after looking over their schedule for 2020.

I can see Cleveland retaining him, but it will be for far less than he thinks he's worth. He's the third best QB in the AFCN, with one of those whose better being a glorified RB. The other is a second year player who didn't even finish last season due to injuries.

BryanBusby 12-26-2021 01:43 AM

I think the best thing for both sides would be Baker demanding a trade.

The Browns ****ed up not shutting him down Week 3 and he needs to go somewhere much different.

He should go to New Orleans and the Browns need a QB that can go down field.

Cleveland is a running team. Baker is not a good QB and doesn’t complement what they do very well. He’s one of those middle-of-the-road guys who wins some games when they get a lead and/or the defense shuts someone down, but you can’t call on him to put your team on his back and make the plays to win a game when you need him most.

Almost 90% of QBs in the NFL cant do that. I dont want to protect Baker, but the criticism towards him is ridicules most of the time. He is no Mahomes, Brady or Rodgers but give him the right HC and right football offensive philosophy it is possible for him to succeed. Sean Payton would be the ideal HC for him, the Saints a perfect fit for him.

BlackOp 12-26-2021 05:07 AM

Mayfeild is Derek Carr...he'll give you 2-3 great performances a season...when they dont matter...be just good enough for a team to hold on to him and become mediocre for years.

He looked amazing in week one against KC...then there was today's game.

Saints/Payton is a good call.

I dunno. I think Baker is probably above average. Maybe just outside of top 10ish. But he hasn’t been the same since the sepaated shoulder and that was before all the lower body injuries. They should have shut him down 10 weeks ago. I think he can win with a good team, which they’re close to, but the coaches ****ed him royally and he’s getting pretty much eviscerated by everybody.

Here’s the thing. That game against us DID matter. And they knew it in the building. I haven’t watched a ton of Browns but the KC game was the most inspired playcalling I’ve seen from them all year. The players knew it, everybody was getting it on every play. And Baker knew it, he wanted that one bad. Real bad, it was all over everything. That was their super bowl sounds cliche, but it’s what it was. That game mattered.

And besides a shot at the king, look at what winning that game would have done to their record. It’s a bit of hindsight, but at the time they knew they needed to keep pace with the Ravens, the Bengals were gunning, and Pitt can still play. They’re not lighting the world on fire defensively, but they can bring it. And the north is traditionally tough. It’s not like they’re playing in a shit division. They wanted the crown, they needed a conference win and to get off to a good start. They thought it was their time. That game mattered.

His poor performance coincided with the injuries. He can barely move and they keep rolling him out there even against shit non conference opponents. Letting everybody with a voice crush him.

I’m no Baker fan, but pre-Mahomes I’d be in favor of trading for him and putting a line and skills around him. Especially with Reid.

He seems like a less mentally stable Alex Smith. With that OL and running game, I think Smith would actually do better than Mayfield.

He had a ****ed up shoulder but refused to get out of the way, he "gutted through it". Which is absolutely bullshit. He was ****ed up and refused to do what was best for the team and have someone else start at QB because he was worried he would lose his job.

That’s on his coaches though. Any good racehorse will run until it’s heart explodes. A hunting dog will do the same.

Its the coaches job to pull him back and it’s any type A competitors nature to insist (usually incorrectly) that his 50% is better than someone else’s 80%. That’s just how guys at this level are wired.

Sometimes you need the right environment to succeed. Brady was labeled average, but due to being in the right place with the right HC and people around him, he slowly succeeded and transformed into the GOAT. I’m not saying Baker can and will go the same way down, but Cleveland is shithole and Baker needs a clean start somewhere else. An average QB can still be a success in the NFL.

Whatever. He sucks and had a loaded roster. He's so good his best WR's are done with him. OBJ and Landry literally are not there because of him. He had a loaded roster and flopped on his face.

He's a back up QB that hasn't faced the fact that he's not that good.

He's been disappointing, but in context, they had injuries to OBJ, Chubb, Hunt, and Baker himself. Didn't the entire offense have COVID last year for several weeks? There wasn't much stability. He's an average QB but they've caught some bad breaks also.

Honestly this sounds a lot like a move Andy and Veach would make. He’s a former first round pick who will be cheap. Andy can try to rehab him

Baker over Josh Allen. He’s so good guys. Just soooo good with personnel

Josh Allen would have crashed and burned in CLE as well.

I wouldn't mind our next QB2 being a Wilson or a Mayfield to rehab behind Mahomes. I think they could learn a lot, would help their egos and we might be able to get something for them down the line.

I could very much see that. Not sure Brock Purdy is the long term answer this year. Bring in Baker, keep things simple and lean on the defense.
