heh, been there. Might be there again this season. Got burned by the Chiefs yesterday.

3 things kept me off this game.

1) The Saints typically aren't as good on the road. Been that way for years. The just have trouble covering on the road.

2) Brees didn't play well last week, and there were already comments about his arm. More disturbing, they ran several trick plays with Hill throwing the ball in that game early.

3) Michael Thomas being out.

So even though everything on paper said the Saints would win and should cover, my gut said stay away.

Alex at least had an occasional 25 yard pass with some heat on it.

I’m not even sure Brees could do that at this point. It’s hard to watch.

It sounds to me like your gut said to bet the Raiders. I was pretty confident in this one with Brees not having his security blanket. I thought it would be a little lower scoring from the Raiders but still viewed that as favoring a Raiders cover.

Yeah, but I have a rule: never bet on the Raiders. Been screwed too many times. I have the same rule about the Panthers actually. It's a pair of rules I write in very large black Sharpie on the front of every season's new wager notebook.

Brees sucked tonight.

He made the fatal mistake many athletes do: he decided to play one more year longer than his body is allowing him too. He ain't got it anymore.

His throws for the most part were awful.

A lot of help from the Saints, but I don't think it can be denied that it was a decisive victory for the Fade. They looked competent and confident. They have a killer running game and a great tight end, and Carr did not look rattled or frightened of anything.

I'm surprised. The Raiders look pretty good. So far.

The Raiders aren't all that. Just like last year.

The Saints are built to fast break. When they can't do that, things get dicey.

The Raiders pounded them on the ground, especially late, which is the Saints' kryptonite.

Furthermore, Brees missed some WIDE open throws. He's obviously just done.

Some people will call it a conspiracy, or poor officiating or whatever, but the Saints also had a sloppy game and had over a dozen penalties, most of them 10 yards or more.

The Raiders are an 8-8 team at best.

Perhaps. But they could give the Chiefs some problems. Its not like they dont have any talent. There is definitely talent there.

All I took from this game is the Saints are not a real contender, their QB is done and the rest of the team isn't good enough.

Watching Brees lately, it really looks like he's winding up to launch a bomb with every drop back, but he's only flinging it like 6 yards downfield. He's never had a strong arm but this is just something else. He's got less juice than Brady at this point.

Yea. He drops back all the time looking like he wants to launch downfield, then settles for the little 5-7 yard dump over the middle.

He’s lost confidence in his arm.

The NFL must need the Raiders to win so fans will keep coming back.

It has a ton to do with interest level, if a team changes cities and sucks balls no one is going to care.

The fact Brees didn't event attempt to throw the ball downfield on that last Hail Mary attempt was full on Alex Smith.

LOVING these wins for the failures...means they'll likely not be drafting a qb high next draft and we'll be seeing Mr Carr at arrowhead for another few years at least..let's go failures :D

Yup. I turned the game off after 3 straight flags against the Saints.

Love the honorable mentions of Butker and the Chiefs by Gruden early in this one. The Chiefs are living rent-free in his head.

I don't spend any time deep-diving into the Raiders defense, but there's obviously a glaring hole for them up front at pass rusher. They don't appear to have anyone along the DL that is a legit pass-rusher, and for them that's a huge concern. Their lack of pass rush allows Pat to do whatever he wants when they meet twice a year, and the results have been absolutely horrific for the Raiders. What's the differential now? 86-13 or something?

So it really doesn't matter if Carr is a better QB this year (I don't believe he is), and they manage to score 20 points on the Chiefs in 2020. in a single game that is. Because without a pass rush they're going to give up 40. I guess that will be only half as embarrassing.

But after they get a couple decent pass rushers and a real QB they'll be pretty good.

That's just the thing.

They spent a 4th round pick for Crosby and the #4 overall on Ferrill. Right now, Crosby looks more like a #4 overall pick and Ferrill looks like a 4th rounder.

True....but getting closer every game because what they have on D are some young dudes going through some growing pains. Abram is a fking missile as well as a few others adjusting. Their D is not elite but much better than bad and will grow each game IMO. Again, Carr (Alex 2.0) is the sinking anchor that holds them back to next level stuff.....but if they get a legit QB.....we have a true battle.

They really need Ferrill to develop into a blue chip pass rusher. If he doesn't, they're screwed.

And for all of the talk about Abram being a hitter, he's got issues in deep coverage. We haven't seen them play anybody that can really get at him yet.

And the jury it out on their corners. They're young and athletic but they're raw. They could really go either way. Without a pass rush, their jobs are going to get really hard.

100% true. Abram also hits so hard he is likely to keep hurting himself but I dont think he can help it. It will be interesting to see if he grows mentally.

All because they beat old noodle arm Brees. Their demeanor will change when they face the champs.

It's all a matter of perspective. The Raiders haven't much to be excited about for a looooooooonng time, so going 2-0 by beating a perennial playoff team would be something to celebrate. They nearly gave that game away, but they got a couple lucky bounces and they played hard and won. I can be magnanimous about that. At least as long as they keep trotting Carr out there.
