“Push around the Chiefs OL”
Easy to do with backups and an elite pass rush. Not so easy to do with Brown, Thuney, Humphrey, and Smith |
Hopefully they try that game plan and find out our entire starting offensive line is actually playing instead of injured.
|
Green took a lot of wicked hits during his career. His knee got shredded by Rodney Harrison on a cheap shot low hit (which led to the Kurt Warner saga). He also got knocked out playing for Miami blocking a defensive lineman for the Texans. He took a knee to the helmet and got knocked cold. But this hit in KC was the worst one. Just brutal.

And who cares about a hit 15 years later... it doesn't make the entire Bengals organization a bunch of dirty hitting fools a decade and a half later.
It sucked at the time, but there's zero 'revenge' factor. |
I just love the idea that he knows something the rest of the AFCW doesn't.
Well I mean except the Raiders |
Just FYI: This is the hit he took playing for the Dolphins after he left KC. Also a brutal concussion:

The Raiders went out and got Burfict for the specific purpose of killing Mahomes.

It's like.... if their mods would grow a pair, they could have some intelligent conversation where opposing fans would calmly explain how the Chiefs' offensive line was completely decimated and then rebuilt in the offseason. And in turn, we would learn some things about the Bengals. |

Cincy fans you're actually my mistress team, like yourselves, small market Chiefs fans well know the pain of decades of irrelevance If you're not playing us, I'm pulling for you... Burrow is 100% legit and you're really starting to put something together back east there But you guys aren't ready for allllll of this just yet, the Chiefs are rolling into your town with a 100 mile head start on the learning curve |

After eating about a third of it I was begging for something to wash the taste away. Luckily for me there was one of those hole in the wall BBQ places near my house and the guy who owned it grew up in KC. I never darkened the door of a Skyline Chili diner the remainder of the 6 additional years I lived there. The other thing there I could never get a taste for....Ale Eight soda. |
Bengals fans are claiming that KC won’t be able to exploit their OL because apparently their pass rush is terrible. Think they might be in for a rude awakening.

Ale 8 is a caffeinated ginger ale made somewhere in Kentucky. I have no fricking Idea what a Hot Brown is (is that like a Hot Carl?) Or the other stuff either... What is "UDF?" Is that like a bladder infection?? Is their local beer of choice still Little Kings? That stuff is nasty! |

Been watching some of the Bengals game replays....
They are surprisingly very basic. Seems like their M.O. is to simply line up and beat you... Not a lot of motion on offense (they line up and run a play for the most part). When they do motion, it's short quick motions, but they don't even do that a lot. I've never understood NFL teams who don't motion, because all that does is give you information and dictate match-ups. But hey, I'm not an NFL coach, so who am I to question it On Defense, they don't blitz much, and when they do, they often still only send 4 (i.e. they'll blitz a LB or DB, and drop a DE into coverage quite a bit). On Offense, it seems their "explosiveness" comes purely from their athletic receivers and a QB in Burrow that can sling it (see my comment above on motion). Mixon is a nice running back, but doesn't really do anything that amazes you. OL seems steady at times, rough at others. I thought their Offense was a little "49ers-esque" (Burrow is way better than Jimmy Grapes), and they do rely on a lot of play-action and misdirection to free guys up On D: I don't get all the love for Bates....seems like he's in single high most of the time, about 15 - 25 yards off the ball.....wouldn't surprise me if we never hear his name on Sunday. He's just too deep. Seems like their LBs are liabilities, but their DL can get some pressure at times. they will mix in some 2 deep, but they man up a lot, and mix in the zones and zone blitzes....but they are rushing 4 95% of the time (estimate) I was shocked at how vanilla they seem to play....again with their explosiveness coming purely from their athletic WRs. They're obviously a good team, and an ascending team, but my gut feel is that they're not quite ready for prime time yet.... In regards to this game: -If the Bengals consistently rush 4, that will be problematic for them. We will need to be prepared for a zone type blitz, which, at this point in the season, it's probably much easier to prep for. -I don't see any way they can stay in one high like they seem to like to play. They aren't going to be able to man up, particularly if LBs are in -LBs are liabilities...we will definitely take advantage of that -I like the fact that they don't motion a lot....this will give the D opportunity to play games with Burrow. -I expect their athletic WRs to win some one-on-one matchups. they simply are that good and Burrow can make throws....but I don't see them running wide open all over the field. -If we can get some pressure with front 4, we will be just fine Color me a little underwhelmed....I could easily see the Chiefs covering the spread in this one. |

This is going to be a reckoning. There is still a smidge of hope for 2-3 teams left in the AFC, including Cincy, but this win by KC will SQUASH IT. |

Still bitter about that shit. |
I’ve seen a lot of talk from Bengals fans about how low we rank in sacks.
Did you know that since the Green Bay game (Ingram’s first game), we’ve had 15 sacks in 6 games (excluding the Charger game due to Covid issues). That’s 2.5 per game. If we had averaged 2.5 for the entire season, then we would have 37-38 on the year. We would have the 10th most in the league. You can’t overstate how impressive the defensive turnaround has been. You also have to flat out ignore all cumulative stats for the season. We’re much better than those numbers show. |

I watched Total Access earlier, and James Jones (I think that's his name - former Packer) said that the Bengals had a better QB, better receivers, WR & TE, and basically made it sound like the Chiefs didn't have a chance in hell to win the game.
He really said Burrow was better than Mahomes. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk |

Are Chase, Higgins, and Boyd a great trio of receivers? Yes. Are the 3 of them better than Hill and Kelce combined? No, absolutely FN not. And Burrow is in no way better than Mahomes. Is Burrow having a good year? Yes. Is Mahomes having a down year compared to his first 3 seasons as a starter? Yes, but even his down year is better than Burrow's good year. Burrow is part of a group of very talented young QBs, and if he can stay injury free it looks like he will have a great career. But Mahomes is in his 4th season as a starter, and the first 3 seasons include 3 AFC Championship games, and two Super Bowls, and it looks like his 4th season is on track for the #1 seed and another AFC Championship game. Jones saying Burrow is better than Mahomes is just flat out ridiculous. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk |
The Bengals are a very talented team, a young inconsistent team with lots of talent. With that said they did allow a 3rd or4th string QB throw for over 300 yards on them.
The Ravens were very depleted and mostly backups, so I think they will have issues with our Offense, our defense should hold up fine. KC 35 Cin 28 |

Agree, Joe Burrow is not in the same league as Mahomes, Joe is good but PMII far better and has a lot of experience. |
tigers are only a threat when in a jungle and they can pounce on you from above. put them on a savannah or tundra and they become large kitty cats.
if they don't have the high ground, bengals are cooked. we are the bengals obi wan. we have the high ground. no way they score 28. |
If The Bengals do a Veach style complete offensive line rebuild this offseason, then they could well be serious contenders next year.
As it stands, right now, they're a year away. They've got talent, they've got the QB, but they're still too inconsistent and weak up front to go far this season. That being said, any given Sunday and all of that. That's a good young team, but they're still a year away, in my opinion. I DO expect them to be a perennial play-off contender moving forward as long as they protect Burrow. They haven't really done that yet, which is kind of criminal. Better get on that. |

I am not sure which is worse, assuming that the Chiefs O-line is the same one from last years Superbowl, or thinking that the Bengals defense is at the same talent level as last years Bucs D. If it was as simple as that, every team we faced this year would have already done it. |

Burrow, Murray, Allen, and Herbert are all very good QBs, but until they do something in the playoffs, they are just not comparable to Mahomes. Even if I wasn't a Chiefs fan, I could look at the group of young superstar QBs, and conclude that Mahomes is clearly better than all of them. Even when we had Trent Green and were winning with the best offense in football, I never once thought Green was a Top 5 QB. I get having team pride, but homers are hard to take seriously.
