Pure speculation on my part, but if he WAS under the influence of something, his lawyer could have advised him to lay low for up to several days to let whatever was in his system work its way out.

I sincerely hope that's not the case, but as you said, the optics get worse for every hour he is in the wind.

Probably some hefty fines and please do some minor misdemeanors if he was racing and left. If they can prove he was drinking, definitely more serious. 6:20 PM would make you think he wasn't, but he should be turning himself in if he wasn't drinking or high. As with all these things, we have a quarter of the info.

In58men 03-31-2024 10:06 AM

Brooke Pryor reporting 2 fatalities and Rice was seen throwing empty bottles from the car during the race. Not good

:D

arrwheader 03-31-2024 10:07 AM

What an idiot, but if he was drunk he was smart to leave and is smart to lay low until he's sober. Can't prove he was drunk without a BAc reading, its about minimizing the charges at this point. If he talks to cops when he is sober he can either say he fled "i was scared wasn't thinking" or can claim he was never driving the car. The former would lead to a fleaing the scene charge but probably pled down and it just becomes a non story he gets a few games suspension and whatever. If he claims his car was stolen or something then he could get away with it completely.

There is the possiblity that he wasn't driving at all. I would think though that he would have come out by now to clear things up but there is a chance his lawyers said nah let us communicate just in case. I hav known idiots who have done this completely ****ed up and nothing happened bc they got home and cops couldn't prove anything.

Jalen Carter's issue was way worse than this by the looks of it so I'm not worrying too much. If he's suspended then it's just groundhog day really. Clark, Gay, Omenihu etc. We move on.

Chieftain 03-31-2024 10:22 AM

Rashee had a clean profile coming out of college while integrating himself into the NFL, he seemed like such a level-headed soft spoken dude. It's really surprising to me that he of all people got caught in this mess.

Dante84 03-31-2024 10:23 AM

For the folks who weren’t up late and didn’t read the full thread:

The OP’s friend was a cop on scene and he posted the thread like 2 hours before news started trickling in.

The original comment was that Rashee was in one of the cars based on witnesses reports. Also, Rashee left his drivers license and a jersey in the car.

He did say there might be a serious injury to a victim, but thankfully the latest report says minor injuries.

Any tweets/vids before 6am have probably already been posted in here.

We as individuals are free to believe whatever we want to believe. For instance, I believe OJ Simpson murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. I don't care that he was found not guilty. He did it.

ghak99 03-31-2024 10:26 AM

I wish I had skipped the first 6 pages of this thread. So we're down to the other driver crashed, collected Rice, and they collected the other drivers? The two fled the scene and Rice hasn't turned himself in yet? There doesn't appear to be a loss of life or even terribly serious injuries? Is there actual video from that traffic cam?

We're basically down to some traffic tickets, a leaving the scene, and maybe some fat civil litigation. Do as your lawyer is telling you to do. DO NOT lie to Chunt. Learn from the temporary rectal cranial inversion.

Jalen Carter helped kill 2 people last year while driving in a reckless manner with a suspended license. He fled the scene of the crime. The NFL did not punish him in any way. If the league office gives Rice a huge suspension, that sure looks like a bad double standard applied in these 2 cases. They set the wrong precedent last year by not punishing Carter.

Chieftain 03-31-2024 10:39 AM

That Brown Rice slogan is temporarily now called Basmati Rice, as in rice in a sack (sacked their way into jailtime). No hope lost. Bert will redeem himself via the draft and bring on two new stud receivers.

Counterpoint: Carter hadn’t been drafted into the NFL yet (and signed a contract) and wasn’t part of their players association which is subject to the protect-the-shield justice system.

Hit and run in Texas without major injury or death is up to 10k fine and suspended license. It's 2-10 years if you kill or seriously injured someone.

Wut? No, the NFL doesn't get to retroactively punish players that weren't even in the league yet when their incident occured.

Mecca 03-31-2024 10:48 AM

Yea people need to relax,he's not going to jail, he may be suspended a few games after it all settled which is probably next year.

ForeverIowan 03-31-2024 10:48 AM

Had a friend in college get pulled over drunk and had a hammered girl in the passenger seat. Jerked the car off the road and fled on foot. Reported the car stolen that night. When the cop showed up at our house he kept asking over and OVER again if he wanted to proceed with report of stolen vehicle.

Long story short, he went ahead with the report and there was enough evidence in court to show he was the driver. False report and alluding official acts worse than just taking the DUI. Pretty sure he did 2-3 weeks in jail.
