They were having big issues handling the DT/DE/OLB stunts. Most players would flush to the left, while the LE would stunt around the T/G to the C, where the C was vacating his gap, for example.

Well, that explains why I kept seeing Morse get his ****ing shit handed to him. Wylie didn't look much better.

This is just the beginning. I'm at peace with the loss. We were an offsides away from the Super Bowl.

There is no "next year." There is a "next 15 years." And they are going to be glorious.

Credit the crowd, and yet Brady checked out of plays at will, just like Manning did. Arrowhead is so overrated against seasoned QBs in big games. But yeah, the passion is cool.

I have a question for Chiefs fans: Why didn't Reid call a TO in OT 2nd and goal? Could have rested his defense.

It seemed like the right side of the line was consistently the problem. I can't say exactly what they were doing wrong, but the Cheaters don't really have a pass rush and our line was getting killed out there.

Yeah Brady threw 3 picks and did his usual dink and dunk as Belicheat errand boy. Montana still GOAT, until Mahomes!

We'll see about that. Brady threw an INT on the Dee Ford neutral zone play. Patriots won the coin toss in overtime. Both of these situations were pure luck, unless people wanna say the coin toss was rigged. ROFL

Seems odd -- the Chiefs defense clearly needs improving, and it's year one of the Mahomes era. No shame in losing to a pretty ridiculous Patriots team that has won 2 out of the last 4 SBs and has what most people consider the GOAT coach and GOAT Qb.

Crazy ass game that the Chiefs could've won in a number of ways, but missed out by the skin of their teeth.

They're overpaying a bunch of guys right now that need to be cut. However, I agree it's only going to get tougher on the Chiefs management going forward. They pretty much need to rebuild the defense from scratch. The OL is not good either. That's a lot of spots they need to figure out.

The thing we have to keep in mind, though, is that we've got 15, maybe 20 at-bats with Mahomes at the plate. We put in a pinch hitter on his first at-bat, and he just hit a long deep fly ball on his second at-bat that was caught as it was about to clear the wall. We have a limited number of at-bats with Mahomes and the ball bounces funny sometimes.

(That last clause strayed from the baseball analogy.)

patyoulikemahomes 01-21-2019 12:32 AM

the team shouldn't be happy with this loss and think to themselves that there's always next year.

the nfl is always changing and new schemes come out every year. there's a whole years tape on Mahomes and Reids offense. And injuries can always hit and kill any chance of a season.

the team needs to figure what they need to do and fast. No moral victories. next year it has to be superbowl or bust. Look at what happened to the vikings, they thought they are just one QB away and will make it to the superbowl.

It's not that simple. Every year is different. Team needs to figure shit out.

Our best chance at going to the Superbowl isn't hosting an AFC championship game at home against a (faiding) in your words, GOAT qb/team that hasn't won a road playoff game since 2006?

What's the concern exactly?

Has a franchise QB ever demanded a trade(or switched teams early or during the prime of his career) after establishing himself with an organization? No.

Elway and Eli Manning demanded trades after they were drafted by teams they refused to play for.

The weird thing is that they've got good defensive players. We had four guys who collectively averaged 10 sacks each this year. That's impressive.

If you had told me that we'd have a 50 TD, 5,000 yard QB, 2 1,300+ yard receivers, a pro bowl left tackle and all-pro right tackle, and the #1 pass rush in the league, I'd be very confident in a Super Bowl win. It's unfortunate that it didn't happen.

It's because it's the Pats, that alone made it a million times worse.

Exactly how the 49ers felt, TWICE, before they got over their hump against the Cowboys.

time off possession: patriots 44 minutes vs the chiefs 21 minutes.

exactly what the patriots wanted to do. Defense was gassed at the end, and Reid wanted to keep his TO's for next season.

The problem is a lot of those guys who get sacks suck at other aspects...Chris Jones run defense is a massive problem...Dee Ford has terrible awareness and is a one trick pony speed rusher, Houston is very off and on at this point in his career...

And that the stupid **** Brady can basically play forever because of the QB rules and his throw it in .7 seconds strategy.

The 49ers have won 5 Superbowls. The Chiefs have won 1.

Manning had the SAME hump against the Pats.

I can't believe clay can be this dumb.

Firing Andy Reid would be the dumbest thing this franchise has ever done, and they've done a lot of dumb shit.

Andy Reid is the only reason you care about the Chiefs.

This franchise was on the brink of descending into Browns status.

We're now an offsides away from the Super Bowl.

GET SOME PERSPECTIVE

Yeah, and as much as they cheat, I'll acknowledge that the Cheaters knew that and used it to their advantage. Run when the pass rushers are in, and pass when the run stuffers are in.

It reminds me of one of those terrible offensive coordinators we had who would substitute running backs in, and you knew 100 percent of the time if it was a run or a pass depending on who was in the backfield.

Rivaldo 01-21-2019 12:53 AM

One could say he is our Daddy... cheefyweefy might

Mecca 01-21-2019 12:54 AM

The Pats and Tom Brady's 20 year never ending reign of terror on the league are literally making me not want to be a fan anymore.

I was ready to hang it up then Mahomes got drafted...and I'm still reminded pretty consistently why a big part of me ****ing hates this sport.

It is what it is.

This time next year I bet Mahomes isn't getting shut out for a half against BB.

In fact, just based on his current trajectory, I bet we go into Foxboro and absolutely skull**** them in Week 1 next season.

The Chiefs are gonna basically pay Chris Jones to be a guy that you can run at until he decides to work on that part of his game.
