Louis CK said something along the lines as George Bush doesn't know what it's like to be poor. But poor people know exactly what it's like to be rich. Reminds me of the latest discussion here.

Excess Body Fat is Repulsive:

I find his judgement of other people because of things that may be out of their control to be repulsive.

I don't mind woman if they are bigger as long as they are still decent looking, and they are fun and smart. If you are fun (this includes wild sexin') that provides more pleasure than a sucky hot girl. I know both of them. and you have to be with a sucky hot girl to know exactly the kind of girl that you are going to have the best time with.

I hear you, man. I had a girl in college that hung in our scene. Every guy that we knew lusted after her. She was seriously, seriously hot. I finally got to sleep with her (and it was one of those, "holy shit, I can't believe I'm about to sleep with this girl" moments), and it was the most disappointing sexual experience of my life. Complete cold fish in the sack (she was a big pill head, so I think that might have had something to do with it).

First, I don't judge others on their weight. Frankly, it is their choice. If they choose to be fat, and are happy with their choice, then fine.

But, please don't say it is out of their control. Nothing is further from the truth. My oldest daughter is not naturally skinny. But, the kid is smart. She has straight A's and doesn't even have to study.

The way I explain it to her is this:

Everyone is different. You may have a harder time losing weight than a friend, but that friend has to spend hours a night studying for a geometry test.

No one talks about kids who fail at school as if it is beyond their control. Frankly, because we know if they put the effort in, they will at least pass.

And, the same goes with weight. Will they have a super model body? Maybe not, but they don't have to be obese either.

This kind of thinking really upsets me. I once had a friend who was overweight and she told me, about how she had a 'gland' problem while she was eating ICE CREAM out of the carton. I told her that I didn't know there was an Edy's ice cream gland. Needless to say, not so close anymore.

Again, if you want to be fat.... fine. Be fat, but please don't whine about how it is out of your control.

Now, I UNDERSTAND that diets suck. I UNDERSTAND having limited will power. I UNDERSTAND that it is HARD.

I am going through all that right now. I am pushing myself even harder to get that magazine cover model six pack that I have always wanted. And, I fall down time to time. I don't always eat the best choice. But, I tell you what I don't do.... claim that it is out of my control. Because the size of my nose is out of my control.... the size of my waist is not.

They spend a lot more time on Geometry in school than they do fitness. Physical education is 45 minutes of running around playing ball. Health classes were a joke when I was kid. They don't discuss nutrition at all outside of your 4 basic food groups. It's not even close to the same.

Anywho, I had an awesome workout today. Lifted weights, 20 minutes on the elliptical, and 25 more running around playing basketball. Shooting hoops was a great change of pace, and since I've done so little of it in the last year, I was running plenty chasing down those bricks.

I think it'd be tough to teach nutrition with a straight face in schools, when looking at what they serve kids for lunch every day. jmo.

Don't get me wrong.... I think there should be FAR more emphasis on physical education and fitness. And, once a person gets bad a bad habit, then it is much harder to change.

I get all that. I just think that overweight people need to get beyond blaming their genetics. It is a loser's mentality.

Absolutely. It gets so much worse in high school. They offer burger baskets and Dominos pizza every single day.

I absolutely agree with your last statement. It's part of the same conditioning process, just from the other side of the fence. It's a defensive mechanism, and is positively a loser mentality. I've been fat my whole life and never one time did I say "I have a slow metabolism." I've always said "I like to eat." ROFL

You're judging everybody on your own experience. I do not agree with that at all. The overriding factor for a lot of people is their genetic makeup, and for some people, they could exercise 24-7 and eat a lot less and they're still going to be fat. Maybe less fat than they were, but still fat. The article I'm responding to says something to the effect that "fat people are selfish" and I take issue with that, because it's a load of horse shit. I know skinny, fit people who are some of the worst people in the world.

Not only that, but fat people in my experience tend to be people pleasers. They're desperately trying to make up for all of that childhood hatred.

First, you are wrong. Ever watch the biggest loser? If you eat less, workout more, you lose weight. There is no 'secret'. It is basic math. Do some people have it easier? Yes. Is it 'fair'? Life isn't fair. I am sorry, but that is just the way it is.

I don't think fat people are 'selfish'. Frankly, quite the inverse. The more beautiful and good looking, typically the more selfish and entitled.

I am sorry to be such a jerk about this. When I was a teenager, I was overweight. I had a girl make fun of me at the pool. It was enough. I lost weight THAT summer.

No. Not everyone fits inside that little box. The vast majority of people do, granted. But there are people out there who legitimately are predisposed to being fat. It is real.

I won't even go into the psychological aspects of it. That would take all day.

I'm sorry for your traumatic experience, but you're still applying your own experience to other people with different factors from you, and you're wrong. The people on the TV show are screened. It doesn't work that way for everybody, you ought to be smart enough to understand that.
