Dude was just off the wall. He consistently scored on double and triple teams. That team made it their MO to score when they needed it. The D was OK. Withey was nails and EJ was good but Taylor wasn't a defensive monster and Conner ****ing Teahan was playing D. That team won on the offensive end.

I don't think this post could be more wrong. Taylor was a very good defender, better than EJ. That team had the #4 defensive efficiency and #1 field goal percentage defense in the country.

Tournament run:

Detroit: 65-50
Purdue: 63-60
NC State: 60-57
N. Carolina: 80-67
Ohio State: 64-62

Yeah, that’s a real offensive juggernaut.

I think I read there were 15 teams who hit 25% or less from deep last year's tourney and 12 lost round 1, 2 lost round 2, and then KU nearly won it all. We were a defense-first team by far.

ArrowheadHawk 06-13-2013 09:37 AM

I don't think the coaches are involved

You're probably right. Maybe I'm selectively remembering.

What I do remember is I can defend better than Teahan. That kid was turrible /Barkley.

It seemed to me that the games they won, they hit big shots. That maybe different than rocking offensively. But on several games, they needed to hit shots to win, and they did.

Teahan was atrocious on D. That experiment was a flop. (One of the few by Self)

Thoughts:

Tarik Black is starting.
Brannen Greene is going to find a way on the floor, even though he's behind wiggins.
Selden is calm as a mother****er.
Embiid has work to do.
Ellis hits his threes consistently? We are going to score at ****ing will.

Oh, and Sherron is fat as shit but he's still got it. Dude is the most fun player to watch ever.

Chief_For_Life58 06-13-2013 11:03 AM

And all of this without the best pro prospect in a decade.

Surprised Sherron is still alive and playing basketball (and well at that?) and that Tyler Self apparently hit at three.
