That's not the point.

Regardless of how you feel about him, anybody with half a brain should be able to agree that the Goodell and the NFL dropped the ball here.

All they needed to do was say look, we understand that you don't want to play, but if that's the case, you're going to have to forfeit, because there's nothing short of that we can do to continue the season like it needs to be done.

You have got to be kidding.

NFL has already been badmouthed by all of the assholes in media and social media that see every thing that hits the news as an opportunity to shame others to feel superior and show no mercy or grace to anybody at all.

And is there some rule that says Commissioner has sole authority to make any decision affecting the rules for playoff qualification if anything unusual happens.

Seems like more folks would have a say on what course to choose.

If they replayed the game would the score and time start over or would they continue where it was left at?

Start from the catch Tee Higgins made.

No reason to start at 0-0 when everything was recorded on video. We know the score, the time, the location of the ball, etc.

I just assumed they’d pick up where they left off. Game was suspended, and any language around it starting up again has used the word “resumed”.

Outrageously stupid stuff here, but I would never put anything past the NFL to generate the outcome or matchups they prefer. Competitive fairness isn't the goal for it.

Because it wasn't Cincinnati saying they didn't want to play on Thursday.

It's so goddamn absurd that the league has let it come to this. Goodell's ability to ALWAYS make the wrong call absolutely astounds me.

Goodell and the NFL were gutless today in making the decision they did. Just wanted to avoid a short term PR hit (although all it will lead to is this remaining an issue much longer for them).

if they can find a way to screw KC they will, it's why gay missed the bills game

If the game is resumed, are teams only going to be use players who were on the active roster Monday night? The Bills suffered a few injuries, are they going to be able to bring up a few players off the practice squad? Not mentioning if players get hurt week 18. It will be interested to see.

ReynardMuldrake 01-03-2023 11:07 PM

It's not fair to punish any other teams for a game they weren't involved in. A draw would not be fair to Cincinnati. They had the lead when play was suspended. Rescheduling an entire week of football is not a practical solution. The only answer that makes sense at this point is a forfeit.

There wouldn't even be as much outrage as there was about OT rules after the Bills playoff game last year.

This is exactly why I don't give two shits about getting the 1 seed because of this.

****. Them. All.

Yep. The Bills were likely to lose last night anyway. It was the most likely outcome before the game, and what transpired only reinforced that. Cincinnati’s offense was doing whatever they wanted.

IF the Bills are so concerned about the seeding, they’d finish the game at some point. No way the NFL refuses to complete the game. Hell, they wanted to finish it last night. If the game is never completed, they should be forced to forfeit. It’s the only fair solution. If their focus is solely on their injured comrade, then they shouldn’t be outraged over seeding anyway.

The likeliest scenario, prior to this, was KC getting the 1 seed. And as of today they are the 1. It will be a joke if they’re robbed due to some horrible intervention.

Balto 01-03-2023 11:10 PM

I still like the idea of doing a 1 year playoff expansion to 10 teams.

Give top two seeds a bye like how it used to be.

IF Bills want to forfeit both games to give players time mentally. Then adding three more WC spots doesn't screw up the Pats getting in automatically because the Bills forfeit. Players/Owners/TV everyone would make more money expanding the playoffs.

Then Bengals can't complain about WHAT IF Chiefs don't win and they can get that #1 seed because yes they might still only get the #2 seed BUT they do get a bye week which would be a good compromise regardless if KC beats Raiders.

This would mean that on the AFC side, the Steelers, Jets and Phins would get into the playoffs. Thats a lot of TV ratings IMO

Would look kinda like this:

#1-KC Bye
#2-Cinzy Bye

#3-Bills vs #10(Phins or Steelers or Jets)
#4-Jags vs #9(Phins or Steelers or Jets)
#5-Chargers vs #8(Phins or Steelers or Jets)
#6-Ravens vs #7-Pats

Yes its crazy but damn that would make for a very exciting Playoffs! Looks like on the NFC side teams like Seattle, Lions and Saints might be the 3 extras. Makes the Bucs getting the #4 seed with maybe a 8-9 record not taste so bad.
