Anther Sunday the Geno fans will hide LOL

Eleazar 12-01-2013 12:57 PM

I don't think they are hiding, they rolled over to the fig leaf "he's just a rookie" a few weeks ago... despite the premise of the opening post

opposition 12-01-2013 12:58 PM

WHo will have a better career? Geno Smith or Jamarcus Russel?

Rasputin 12-01-2013 12:59 PM

I'm not hiding if it turns out he sucks and keeps wetting the bed like Hootie then I can admit I was wrong about Geno Smith.

I guess youre not watching him right now.

He is playing worse than J. Russel.

One of the worst QBs I have ever seen play.

Missing Wide Open receivers by a Mile.

2/7 18 yrds at the half.

I would bet he doesnt start next week, or maybe ever again.

ShowtimeSBMVP 12-01-2013 01:19 PM

Well in fairness Alex didn't play 7 games of his rookie year and he did turn the ball over a lot he had 11 picks and 9 fumbles. If he had played every game he might have reached 30 but we'll never know

He only lost 3 of those fumbles... that's still a terrible number but he officially turned it over 14 times that year.

He was a joke. Horrible.

If he wasnt the #1 overall he would have probably ended up just like Geno.

Geno is benched BTW.

Hes probably started his last game.

No problem. Some of that was surely luck. It's still not a good number.

Still... Geno's on pace for 30+ turnovers. They probably need to get him out of there just to give him a mental break. His last four games he's 29-74 passing. That's pretty brutal at any level.

Stupidity is judging a rookie qb on a shitty team . :deevee:

Eleazar 12-01-2013 03:01 PM

Well, Geno Smith was 4/10 on the day for 29 yards and an interception. But to be fair, he was benched at halftime.

Wonder if he's done for the season now?

Rudy tossed tigger's salad 12-01-2013 04:15 PM

Geno is broken. Seems like the concerns about his mental game are somewhat legitimate. I don't know if I've ever seen a worse stretch of 7 games.

I expect us to make the playoffs this year, but we won't beat the Broncos. Considering that this is a rebuilding team in a first year system, the last 3 games, although losses, the Offense has actually looked competent. I expect good things going forward. The Future is brighter than I it has ever been, IMHO.

I don't really expect us to beat the Broncos, but we almost did today, and it's pretty hard to beat a team 3 times in a season.

Alex Smith is now 0-3 when the defense does not play elite this season. NFL Network reporting he is 2-26 when teams score 25+ points.

I didn't blame him, but he does need an elite d to win.

This thread is so dumb. It shouldn't even be Geno. If anything is should be Smith vs. EJ Manual.

ShowtimeSBMVP 12-01-2013 08:02 PM

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 3m
Geno Smith’s comp pct (49.2) and yds per att (6.8) vs blitz are almost identical to Mark Sanchez last year (49.7 comp pct, 6.7 yds per att).

Let's try to understand how football works now. He needs WR to make crucial catches when the ball is very catchable. I fully believe chiefs would have won if WR knew how to catch. Crazy, I guess Alex needing the defense to actually attempt to cover Wrs is now translated to him needing an elite defense.

Difference between Manning and Alex today were the WRs.

If any person without an agenda cannot see that then, continue being miserable about the QB position when it's obviously other factors that attribute the team losing against playoff teams caliber teams. The offense looked a million times better than it did in the beginning of the season.

EVERY QB in the history of the game needs help from their defense to win.

Peyton Manning didn't win a super bowl until the year his D stepped up in the playoffs.

Football is a team game every Qb needs their defense to do something to win. To say otherwise is just stupid.

The Chiefs scored 38 and 28 in two of their three losses. It doesn't take an elite defense to hold an opponent to less than that.

the Chiefs three losses have come courtesy of two of the better qbs in the league this year. I guess many qbs could win when the opposing qb throws 5 TDS.

I think instead of an elite defense you might in the case of these last three weeks you could say, "alex smith needs a semi competent defense to win."

Of course, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, they all can win without ANY DEFENSE.

And, if you want to be really technical about it, bad int aside from yesterday, Alex Smith probably could win if he didn't have 6 dropped passes on DEEP BALLS in one game.

Just a thought.

You know, the thing that captain check down DOESNT DO, throw deep?

Geno Smith told reporters in NY he was informed he remained the team's starting QB. To me, it was the only move Rex could make

Nobody who has seen the Jets' past 4 games can believe Geno Smith gives this team a better chance to win.

BigCatDaddy 12-02-2013 02:04 PM

It sounds like they are handcuffing Geno a bit in NY, by Herming up the offense. They need to unleash the beast and let him penetrate deep. He'll give you some great ones, he'll give you some bad ones. You just have to hope you get more good than bad on that Sunday.

Havent watched any Jets games lately?

They are taking away everything deep, and making him look short, and pressuring him.

it was the concern that any one that wasn't 100 pro geno gave as a reason to be skeptical, and got thrashed because of.

He doesn't handle pressure well, and isn't the most accurate qb short. Beautiful long ball. Doesn't progress through reads very well. Easily rattled.

So your standard for ELITE defense is something a smidge better than giving up 30-40 points per game at home?

Wonder how that stacks up with your standard for ELITE QBs.
