****ing ridiculous.

I almost hope they lose 4-3 so Matheny has to answer for that bullshit.

I dont think I've ever seen that 1st to 3rd move work in the big leagues. Didn't they ban it next year because it works so few times and it slows the game?

O.city 08-05-2012 09:00 PM

Well, it worked out I guess.

10 games over .500. Makes losing those games to the Cubs hurt worse.

Teh broadcast highlighted our isses this season. 5.24 ERA in the 7th inning. 19-33 in games decided by 2 runs or less.

What about that service time? If he comes up before September does that start the 6 years of control time that the cardinals have in their pocket?

I believe it is 170 total days to constitute a year. I guess you would have to figure whether 14 or 15 days would matter much if you were going to call him him up anyway in September.

Mujica to the rescue (so far at least).

Geez. The Blowers are awful.

O.city 08-06-2012 08:48 PM

So does Fuentes and Mujica make the BP good enough?

We had some pretty clutch hitting tonight as well. Good sign.

Fuentes sucks, and Mujica won't be effective if he's asked to pitch every night. I am excited to see some life from these guys this week though.

Going to be an interesting end of summer. No way to catch the Reds really but if the Cards miss out on a WC slot they will only have themselves to blame.

A WC spot leading to a showdown with the Reds in the NLCS would be sweet, kind of like last years Brewers beat down.

After last year I became a never say never kinda guy when it comes to the last couple months of the season. If the Cards can close to within 4 games by the end of this month, you never know. The Reds are real streaky so don't be surprised if they hit a skid at some point. And the Cards still have 6 games against both the Reds and Pirates (and a bunch of games against the Astros).

Dude, he is being talked about a possible MVP this year. What more do you want from the guy?

This is basically the same team that we had written off last year. How can anyone say they are done when they are 11 games over .500?

What I'm saying is I NEVER SEE IT. Granted, I don't watch all that many games, but if I flip on the Cardinals game and he comes up to bat, 9 times out of 10 he strikes out. I see his stats, and realize he must be playing well. It just doesn't seem to happen when I'm watching. On TV or in person.

I think my negative Holliday mojo has turned into a force of nature. :D

I have the extra innings package so I can watch all the games. I usually will watch alll 9 innings for about 70% of them while I'm learning new tech stuff. The other 30% I'll fast forward through to the action parts. So, I also dont see every Holiday at bat. He is doing much better in the clutch this year. But, I dont see him as clutch either. If we need a hit to get that winning run home, I'd rather see Molina or Fresse up there.

How many of those $100 million+ contracts in MLB does the home team actually get what they paid for? I bet its few and far between. We are getting what we paid for. Thats a rarity, just embrace his play now. Cause I'm sure he will fall off his current pace and you can legitmately bash him and I'll join in. :D
